hey look at that - the person showing them white kids to cheat was asian and he is from irvine. irvine is full of cheaters and craigslist scammers.

Hey, is this guy still on the run? Last I read, he was evading police who were trying to question him about masterminding this whole thing, hacking into the school's computers, changing grades... I mean, uh, "private tutoring"- he's facing criminal charges, possibly a felony, I read.

As of February 4, he has still not been located. They've been looking for Timothy Lai since December. Like you said, he's from Irvine.

irvine is the perfect hiding place for that guy.  from what im told all asians look alike and the white cops will have a hard time identifying him :-)

oh crap that kinda looks like me!!

Just my opinion: a friend lives in Anaheim, and one of his children graduated from Loara High School with honors.  Not sure what the API for that school is, but my friend's child is now a sophomore at DePaul on a full scholarship.  I believe, Foothill Ranch Elementary, Serrano Middle School, and El Toro High School would be just fine for Baker Ranch residents' children's education.

Don't disagree...a good student will usually do fine regardless of the school s/he go to.  The discussion, however, is very different when you are talking about school district reputation and housing value.

Yes, my point is only about good students.  That said, Saddleback Valley Schools should provide great learning environments for Baker Ranch residents' children.  And, Lake Forest housing prices, although lower than Irvine, should also be fine.  But, I do get your point.

Wait. DePaul as in the school in chicago that's not ranked in the top 100?  :o Which side of the argument is this supposed to prove?

Okay, the student COULD have gotten to Harvard/Stanford on a full scholarship had the family lived in Irvine.  DePaul is still a good university and only a handful get full scholarship.  Gotta give credit when credit is due.

He looks like my neighbor... I meant neighbors (yes, I'm in Irvine, and yes... I am Asian). :)

Whoa, so feisty!  >:D

I'm sure DePaul is a decent school but let's be honest, people don't split hairs here on API scores and school districts to send their kids to DePaul - full ride or not.  Just saying...

I agree about API scores and school district. But, it's not the MAIN factor involved in a student's success.  I'm pretty sure that to an Irvine family (or anywhere for that matter) with kids who are not on ANY scholarship would see things differently.

Sure but like I said above, no one splits hair about API scores to talk about Depaul.  I bet you half the people on this board don't even know where Depaul is.

You're probably right about half (maybe more) of the people here not knowing about DePaul.  But, IF their kids end up getting a full scholarship there and NO WHERE else, I bet they'd be happy/proud.  I know I would LOVE for my kids to get full scholarships at Stanford/Harvard/MIT, but if they don't and get one from Boise State, I'd be just as proud.
