I will tell you, the one thing I don't really care for is that a couple times when I was driving down Irvine Blvd. between Alton & Bake, I'd see a jalopy -- at the light, the person would signal me & make a "roll down the window" sign. So I did and what do you think they asked me? "Hey, how do you know how I can get to the jail?" Nice. You're going to get the gang buddies from The Willows dropping by for visiting hours, I'm sure.

Edited for improvement.  :)

^^^Typically that motion means someone farted in their car...however, if that is my car and there's unauthorized farting, we go to operation "dutch oven".

which means windows are locked, heat on full blast until someone taps out from the trauma.

We refer to that as hotbox... Dutch oven does make more sense though :)

Alton has been dressed up quite a bit. Big palms all down the median divider. No sign of that new jail wall yet, though.

They actually put a wall of dirt about 6-7 ft tall in front of the fence on the stretch of Alton closest to Irvine Blvd.  then it tapers off further down Alton leaving the fence more exposed.  I really hope this isn't the wall they were referring to in the staff report, pretty sad if so.

To the person who previously asked what was up with that lone house on the west side of Alton -- can't remember who you are --  looks like it is being demolished. I just drove past it a couple hours ago.

Probably me.
I wonder who owned it and what the story is behind it.

I did see some things like the play structure getting taken down, but haven't seen them really touch the house.

Scheduled a private tour!?  I'm also going to the VIP event on Friday but they've told me it's just an Open House and as long as my name is on the list, I can come anytime between 10a-7p.

Are you an FCB?  Maybe they've arranged guided tours and buffet lunches for you.

No, I'm not an FCB (not sure what that is, but pretty sure I'm not. LOL).  I don't believe there's a buffet lunch.  We're just going to look at the models. :)

FCB = "Foreign Cash Buyer".

"Refreshments" will be offered.

Around The Ranch, which is the Facebook page of a Foothill Ranch agent, had this to say about the new development:

"Foothill Ranch friends...info about Mello Roos has been a pretty touchy subject lately, especially with the influx of new developments.

The Mello Roos is financed by a bond set to expire in 2019. The initial authorized bond amount was $105,000,000. Thus far, $82,250,333 has been issued. There is approximately $22,750,000 unused in that bond and available to the county for infrastructure and community improvement.

The county can, at their discretion, decide to either
1) continue with the bond as planned, in the chance that they will need those funds to improve the community
OR
2) stop the bond where it stands, thereby releasing residents from paying any further Mello Roos.

Many of us have wondered why we are still paying...isn't our community complete? Baker Ranch children will be attending Foothill Ranch Elementary School (confirmed) for their K-6 students. To accommodate those new students, the school will be expanding.

Putting two and two together leads me to believe that our Mello Roos will be paying for that expansion, and I am not alone in those assumptions. What do you think? Is this a positive? Or negative?"

Thanks SoCal. I'm not "foreign" and certainly not paying cash. :)  Good to know about refreshments though.
