China's population is largely irrelevant. For American's the main problem they're experiencing is really quite simple. We're exporting dollars to a country that funnels the dollars through political cronyism, those then getting the dollars want out and come here or elsewhere, they just bring the expectations that got them ahead there here.
If you don't like it, stop buying cheap made in China sweatshop. How do you know? Easy, it's a brandname made in China.
Everything you are actually complaining about with the Chinese coming is actually being down in most American firms too and our Government is becoming increasingly crony.

America has always been a country of immigrants. Everyone always harps on the new groups and raise protectionist alarms. IMHO, diversity is a strength and we should try not to be so quick to judge. Not all mainlanders are the same.
If you don't like the trend in Irvine, you can always move to South County but be warned, the only constant in life is change.

I was wondering where all the hate was coming from. I would consider Irvine a city full of educated, professional, recreational people and not bigot racists. This blog definitely doesn't represent Irvine.

I can care less about Din Tai Fung. I don't know why there is such a big fuss about this restaurant.

I hear people complaining about the Chinese buying houses so their children can attend school here (while they stay in China), but I don't see why. Years ago I lived next to a house that was filled with Taiwanese high school and college students, no parents. They were great neighbors, always quiet. Then the house got sold to a noisy white family.

If so much hate, why pay the premium when you can get something allot bigger in other areas where being racist is accepted (i.e. Yorba Linda)
