30 Day Fitness Challenge

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Running alternate evenings. 1.5 miles before I give up is a long way from not running at all. I felt more impact on the body with the elliptical than actual running. Ready to buy the Nike "Just Run" T-shirt.. weight - I won't even bother until summer is over. Daughter loves to bake, and my mom is here- both express their love via cooking food that I like, and I will just eat whatever I feel like without worrying about consequences. Health is A-OK. I will try to outburn their feeding.. that's all.

SoCal- great job! Good luck with vacation weight.. you are on the right track with grilled fish.. carry on!
Homer- how is your workout?
IHO- walking? running? weights? biking?
NSR- net loss?
Qwerty- how many miles a week with the dogs?

Haven't seen you post in a while CZ... glad you are doing well!!

My workout is going great! I've been real happy with my progress with swimming.. I've improved in my form and in my endurance/stamina.

I've leaned out quite a bit from swimming and my diet.

Didn't even weigh myself.  Not a good week or two.  I caught another day-care cold-sinus thing from my son at the beginning of last week and it's just winding down now.  Unfortunately sinus things tend to really screw with my weight and I munch to get the taste out of my mouth so I didn't even bother weighing as the weight is complete nonsense when I'm dealing with dripping sinus.  I could weigh five pounds light cuz I'm peeing like mad or I could weigh five pound heavy cuz I'm retaining water even though I'm peeing like mad.  Although I know is until the stuffy head thing is gone for about three days, anything the scale says will dramatically change.

Never mind that I followed up the fish with my Chocolate Cookies with White Chocolate Chips.  :-X A.k.a. "Delicious Chocolate Mommy Cookies" according to my boy. I made 45 cookies. They were good. Mr. SoCal ate 10 of them yesterday!! Wow. I had some but I'm not that naughty. He was like, "Ohhh. What are you trying to do to me." Keep him fat so he's all mine, of course!

If anyone wants the recipe, let me know.  :D

CZ, 1.5 miles is awesome! Do you stop for breaks? I love walking but I haven't run a mile since high school P.E.!! I have a feeling a marathon is in your future!

When & where do you hope to do the Iron Man?

Not walking as much because of a hectic schedule.

Playing ball both Sat and Sun but hurts my knees more than helps my big bacteria.

It's ok, everybody has setbacks. Just keep doing your best, switch it up. Something is better than nothing. Is there anything that can be done for your knees? I've heard injections (of steroids, I believe??) can make a world of difference... a huge relief. I'm sure future weight-loss will help as well. I remember you've had surgery already. Is there any more of that in your future?

I'm glad every member here seems to be really honest in this thread & nobody is pretentious. I know I certainly wouldn't want to give the false impression that I have all my shit together, when I really don't. I just do the best I can. Sometimes that's good enough and sometimes often it isn't! And you are in good company, Iho. I am not an Iron Man like Homer or a marathon runner / dedicated vegetarian like CZ. I know what it's like to be a tall, chubby blond -- just like you!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting a little panicked that the summer is drawing to a close. I have goals I wanted to reach before school starts. That leaves about 6 weeks left. I'm down 9 lbs. since getting back from vacation. I don't know why it swings so wildly for me but I am back on track now. I am cutting out my cheat days until September. They were holding me back too much!! 1 day to cheat + 1 day to recover = "2 many" lost days per week!

irvinehomeowner, if your knees hurt try this product on your knees:http://www.amazon.com/Penetrex-Tendonitis-Fibromyalgia-Neuropathy-inflammation/dp/B0026HDURA

I'm a pretty avid runner and I had runners knee in the past, until I found this cream - It's amazing on knee pain and sore joints, shin splints, etc.
It has a funny name but it's worth a try - it worked wonders on my knees.  In the past I've only been able to sustain running for about 3 consecutive months then my knee would give out and I'd have to rest it for weeks before getting back out there, and I'd gain weight back.  This stuff has kept me going for about 9 months solid running about 20 miles per week.

@aquabliss:

I'll check that out... hopefully it's not on the PED banned list and the MLB will ding me for 211 games. Although... I can always say I'm appealing and still play.

So is it basically a topical pain reliever/anti-inflammatory?

Tonight, I'm doing Teriyaki chicken kabobs on my grill with pineapple chunks, red bell pepper, and onion with baked potatoes on it again, too. All pretty low calorie stuff. I got mesquite this time. I'm a grilling fool. Having a lot of fun with it.

Your softball league has some pretty stringent rules, you must get a lot of ladies in the stands being the A Rod of the league over there.

I'm not sure if it works as an anti-inflammatory but definitely a pain reliever, you don't even feel it tingle or anything like icy-hot or that asian tiger balm my wife made me try.  It has the same consistency as like a nivea lotion, which is why I didn't think it would do any good, but somehow it works quite nicely.

Someone who is counting calories and losing the lbs (for real) is looking GREAT! She looks twenty pounds lighter and ten years younger.. Congratulations and keep up the good girl with gel nails ;-) I haven't lost an ounce this summer, but working hard on looking like an almost high schooler's mother :P Keeping active though. Running twice a week, weights once a week. Don't judge me- that's the most I can do.. I haven't given up completely, so brownie points for me ;-)

IHO? Walking? Playing? Eating?
NSR? Real loss?
Homer (or whatever you call yourself these days!)? What's the program for fall?
SoCal: Time to reward you with a caramel machiato :)

Doing great.. I'm just switching my Macros up this time because I have been bonking on my work outs. Gonna up the fats and carbs and maintain my protein at about 35%.

I need may to up my calories depending on duration of my workout and work schedule.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer even though its windin down.  I will be taking a trip to Napa to do some wine tasting and fine foods chow down!!  It'll probably be the only trip to napa this year and I hope to take lots of pics to share with everyone!!

French Laundry?
What's your yelp account? Haha

I still need to make a trip out there to eat.

In response to another post - there is no place too far to go just to eat! Haha

LOL... You guys read into things too much haha..

Yeah we are going to French Laundry, we happen to be a fan of Thomas Keller.  We usually do bouchon, ah hoc and FL whenever we visit with friends.

My wife and I love fine dining, we work hard so there is definitely no shame in enjoying the finer things :)

I will PM you my handle on Yelp lol

Tell me you have not gone bougie...

Here I was thinking that you, me and qwerty could sit in the backyard in dickies and wife beaters drinking 40's and PBRs and watching football.  8)

If you bring the beers, i'll make the bacon wrapped hotdogs and maybe qwerty can bring the tequila.

Wife beaters and dickies were my staple when I was a freshman in high school!

I still have my dickies, but I wear them when I work on cars. I was about 150lbs and 5'10" but the waist size is a 40! I needed to get that baggy look for skateboarding, haha.
However this attire changed one sunny day at a Jack in the Box in Carson when a Samoan gang member asked where I was from and he didnt mean the city I lived in.  :-\

I'm waiting homie
