ajw522,

How did you find out about the buttons at Montecito and Sonoma?  The Sonoma sales people only knew of the reflush button located on the tankless water heater in the garage.

Hello,

Perhaps you could ask Sonoma sales staff to let you talk to the construction manager.  When we did our framing walk at the Montecito site manager told us that there is a button to press at the master bath.

So we finally moved into our home at monterey. The home is really nice. As for the tankless water
heater, the button at master bath makes all the difference. Instant hot water once the that button
pumps out all the water from the pipes. But i guess it is a waste of water because the water in the pipes
is being run out. I guess which is more wastage. the energy to keep the tank hot for immediate availability
of hot water or a little wastage of water in the pipes???

That's nice.  Hope Sonoma has the button.  Anyone moved into Sonoma or know it has the button?

BTW, does the button flush the water down the drain or back into the water heater plumbing?

No button for Sonoma,  :'(

A few sec of cold water won't hurt but an instant hot water might. I prefer to test water first.

But it can be fun to have a button to play around with before taking the showers.

Is it a few seconds of cold water?

From what I understand, tankless water heaters take longer than tank water heaters to send hot water to areas farthest from it. That's why they come equipped with those flush devices.

I also want to know if the water is actually flushed out or just recycled out of the pipes and recirculated through.

What happen to all those smart engineer guys we used to have on these forums? Maybe I'll go do some Wiki research... hehe.

After living in my house for about 2 weeks.... it's not so bad afterall. It seems like it's only takes about 15 secs to get hot water in my shower now.

Does anyone know if the button is available at Carmel??

I was at Sonoma today and asked the sales lady and she had no clue.  I also did not see any "button" in the model homes.

Maybe this is specific to Montecito???

They did not install the buttons at the models at Montecito or Sonoma, but they do come in the completed homes.  However, they ARE installed at the Monterey @ Crampbury East models.

This doesn't completely apply since its not for the 2010 collection - but  I've had a tankless water heater in my Tokyo condo for the last 4.5 years.  It takes about 15 seconds in the summer for the hot water to reach the shower and about 30 seconds in the winter.  Its very efficient and we never run out of hot water AND there isn't a button.

I've used these tankless ones as well while living in Tokyo and Hong Kong and they work great. But since all the apartments I've stayed at are less than 800 sq ft and only have one bathroom, I don't know how they will differ in these 2000+ sq ft houses. Does anyone know if Carmel have the flush button??

So how has it been? I'm sure most of you have moved in and are getting settled (although many of you may have stuff in boxes still).

Are the homes working out? Are there any problems? Are there likes/dislikes? Things you would change? Things you love?

So far very very happy with our move into monterey neighbourhood.
Met many neighbours. Found no issues related to being a alley loaded product.
Yes the proximity to neighbours is quite close but no issues yet. It is very very silent.
Hot water is working quite good. Had them come and adjust the tap to next position
to allow little extra hotwater. The walk in pantry and wrap around under the stairs is big plus
for storing costco stuff. Pool and parks are great. Probably would have liked a jacuzzi instead
of the kiddie pool at jasmine park.

I can definitely see that parking will get a issue as the neighbourhood get fully built.

So one of the restroom(toilet) location is next to another bedroom.  What I have found is that the wall is amazingly thin and seems like there is no sound isolation at all.  Any flush of toilet, it's loud and clear in the other bedroom.  Of course there are small things here and there needs to be fixed.  It's just a little surprising that there are this many little things needs to be fixed.

With that said, overall things are good.  Neighbors are awesome, no issue with parking (having a driveway really helps).

Just wanted to share some of my thoughts...

1) Parking doesn't seem that bad for me since there is a park across the street from my house. However, I see the streets in between the Santa Cruz houses filling up quickly after everyone gets home from work.  I can see that parking will be an issue at build out.

2) All of our friends who have seen our place love the Great Room concept.  I live with a roommate right now (until the baby comes) and I don't hear a peep from him when he's upstairs.  I did get the extra padding in b/w floors to help with the sound isolation and they seem to be working.

3) Sand Canyon does tend to get noisy at night and I can see how it might bother some people in Sonoma or Coronado Plan 3s.  I usually sleep with the window open and can hear the speeding cars. If I keep the windows closed, then it's not bad at all. I can also hear the train, but then again, I heard the train when I was renting in Woodbury.

4) I kinda like the Motorcourt because it gives me a chance to socialize with my neighbors.  I guess I'm lucky that the people in my court are pretty nice.

5) While I love the downstairs bedroom, I always have to keep the windows in my bathroom closed because it's on the motorcourt- it's kinda annoying to have to do that.

So far, the KB Home is holding up great. I guess time will tell!

Yes, I second FE - our walls are also extremely thin, and you can hear the toilet flush very clearly, along with people's voices and snoring.  Also, Montecito's windows are flush mounted, so there is no place to have your blinds sit...they just hang from the blind holder/valance and look sort of tacky.  We also find little things from living in the home that need to be fixed, and customer service is pretty slow at getting back to us.

Parking is fine with us too, however, I have noticed that my motorcourt seems to have less street parking people as opposed to other Montecito motorcourts on other streets.

Yes we have this issue too. The 3rd bedroom in monterey plan 3 is along the wall of master sinks.
You can hear the water running very clearly. Lucky the room will be kids room!!!!.

I also notice quite a bit of echo downstairs. Not sure if its because all our walls are still empty
and have no paintings or pictures etc hanging to give some sound absorption.

Few small things are there and are being addressed.

Yes hear the train in the night. and the rumbling of truck with the 2 containers at the back going over the
Sandcanyon & Trabuco intersection. Don't hear the trucks or cars otherwise except when the two container truck
goes over the uneven intersection. Well maybe this sound is loud making the other regular noise
feel like complete silence.

So is the sound off of Sand Canyon that much of an issue? I've had my own problems with street noise so I can relate... just wondering as it should effect Woodbury East and the Sonoma owners.
