Who else plays with slug throwers?

Troop,

Wow!! Two with guns in one shift?! Is that common? That would be the thing that would scare me the most - guys with virtually nothing to lose, probably high, drunk or both, armed and seeking to make a name for themselves by shooting at cops. LA is full of them.

What do the perps with guns do? Try and pretend they don't have one on them? Toss them? Claim someone gave it to them?

LA should set up a Project Exile type system, with agressive enforcement of every single gun law on the federal level. Those guys you apprehended would be facing a US Attorney and federal prison, not overcrowded LA County Jail, and overworked DA's who like to plead cases out...

No, his arms started getting tired so it eventually went under his chin, to his neck, to his chest then to his stomach. He had to keep switching fingers too and finally was down to his thumb. Was a long night for everyone.... and I actually worked again during the festivities on the 4th, so no fun (but I did get to see some of the fireworks from the HWD Bowl since it's so close to where I work).

During the shift on the 4th, we caught two gangsters with guns (separate occasions) and arrested 5 for street robbery (two separate occurrences). During both robberies, I was just driving down HWD Blvd when I saw people running and yelling. Never a good sign. Both times, vict's ran up to my car and say "Those guys just robbed me!" ...... talk about an adrenalin rush ! I went from 0 to 60 in about .05 seconds. Swing car around, put out a broadcast of suspects, set up a perimeter, call helicopter. etc. We were lucky and were 2 for 2 that night. Most times they get away.....</blockquote>
OK - whenever I'm having a bad day at work, I'm just going to think about Trooper's night. My day won't seem so bad after that thought. Glad you're OK, Troop.</blockquote>

NO doubt! Whenever I think my job is pretty stressful, I think about this.... I'm just not cut out for it.

keep it safe Troop

You know, it's funny....it just comes naturally to me, but thanks for the concern. It must be in my genes as my father was a police officer for 34 years !

So you read about Friday night, now watch this TMZ clip to see my Saturday night. Happened on Ivar just North of Sunset 0230 AM. Right after this went down, one of my Officers began following the suspect vehicle (the black Hummer.....and yes, the little white car was with him too, but peeled off and out of site)....I got up on the 101 N/B and caught up with the chase and it didn't end until somewhere way the f*ck out in the Valley. Code 4, suspect in custody....but no gun. Shooter must have been in the white car....

So no, I'm not in the vid but many of my coworkers are...I was up chasing the Hummer. Also, about mid-way thru the vid you see a male Hispanic talking with an officer. He was shot as well, you can see the blood spot on the back of his shirt when he walks away.
