Just some of my weekend exploits.

Its suprisingly relaxing to get out there and punch holes in paper. Nevermind the "You!" sticky, it was posted by a coworker poking fun at me... :p

Although the 91/30 has been scoped now. I just need to find the appropriate cheek pad.

good luck

Some of the views might be people trying to figure out what slug throwers are. I know thats why I viewed. And until the second post I still had no idea. Those circles you drew around the group of shots really threw me off.

Well the fixed magazine only hold 5 rounds (5 very big rounds though) so they are shot groups. I'd usually get two fliers and a very light group of three, it just depends on the ammo though.

good luck

Sometimes when I feel like killing someone, I do a little trick to calm myself down. I'll go over to the person's house and ring the doorbell. When the person comes to the door, I'm gone, but you know what I've left on the porch? A jack-o-lantern with a knife stuck in the side of its head with a note that says, "You." After that I usually feel a lot better, and no harm done.

I think I would lose a little sleep over that present. ;-P

I do sometimes. I had a female roommate who would occasionally go to the range when she was pissed at her boyfriend. I'd come along with her to shoot, but I never ended up buying a gun. I thought long and hard about a 1911 or a revolver, but I always came up with a better way to spend 600 bucks or so.

I can't really justify it as a self defense thing either. If someone broke into my home, I wouldn't feel comfortable carrying around a gun at all. *shrug*

I picked up a 1911 (Rock Island) for 279... after everything was said and done it cost about 400 total (new trigger, DROS, new sights). Its enjoyable but the Officer is bit of a handfull in .45 acp. After about 2-3 magazines my hand start to sting.... alot.

[quote author="Trooper" date=1213275295]I'd give Bix a run for his money. Cross eye dominant and all !

Yep i'm cross eye dominant also. I'm only a noob at pistols, MUCH better with rifles. Especially when the target gets CLOSER, then my aiming, breathing, technique goes all to crap. :(

My old Barrett rifle has since been rebarrelled to .416. So next time I get a chance i'll try to start plinking out at 2000+ yards.

good luck and keep it safe.

Here's my slug thrower!

I had a gun license in Mass, but I need to renew and get a license for CA. I need a new gun too. Does anyone have a recommendation for a handgun for a female? Or good websites so I can start researching. I also need to find a local shooting range. Thanks!

Bix, you've inspired me to look into shooting ranges again. I found one in Laguna Niguel that also has classes for women. I've had a lot of classes, but it's always good for refresher info.

Plus, going to the shooting range is something that my husband and I can do together (although I know he didn't like that I was better than he was). I can also try their different guns before I buy a new one.
