What happened to the IHB and some suggestions...

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program

It's gonna be a while...

G: Hey honey, I just posted on IrvineTalk!

C: Okay...

G: LOL!

Maybe... some time after the first of the year.
Poor Graph. I was so engrossed in work at the time I didn't look up or even realize what he was talking about for a few hours. I had forgotten that I first saw TI before Thanksgiving (yes, some of us knew this was coming). At least he was a good sport about me ignoring him. <!-- s:-) -->:-)<!-- s:-) -->

Anyhow, I really like the Vanilla software that IHB had before EE came around. It worked well and folks liked it.
Hey, everybody! Hey, IHO!

Welcome to the new site. I know it will never be the same as IHB but hope it could serve some sort of purpose whether it's temporary or as a new home for many of you. Over the next several days, we can talk about what people would like to see and get situated. (I can absolutely add a Water Cooler section.)

To answer your question -- yes, the real estate sections are noticeably absent. That is intentional at this time. Zovall does care about the community aspect continuing and has allowed us enough time to form a plan to continue. However, he is a broker now and does not wish to send traffic to another real-estate related site. He has kindly offered to leave the link to this site up temporarily in his announcement. We have agreed that while it is up, there will not be a real estate forum to respect his wishes. He is aware that conversation will naturally evolve here and it will come up. When it does, appropriate boards will be added. I hope this helps to clear it up a little bit. I agree it is sad this had to happen, but I am thankful for everybody who has been on IHB, including IR and it's creator, Zovall , as well as those who want to continue the spirit of community that was developed by coming here.
Would it be acceptable to set up discussion groups by HOA/community? I think it'd be nice if we have one for each of the major communities in Irvine (Woodbury, Northpark, Oak Creek, Woodbridge, etc). Rather than real-estate specific, it'd be HOA/community discussions.

Don't overbuy the free page views. Note that they don't carry over from month to month. If you don't use all 150,000 in December, they are gone.
I'll reiterate that I would prefer to have the $$$ go to Mr. and Mrs. Admin Socal. Until she gets her own link up here, the donations on my site www.irvinerealtorsite.com are all going to them to cover some of their expenses. $15 so far... thanks to contributors so far.

The pay-per-pageview issue might be difficult as traffic increases and certain self-proclaimed "post whores" eat up the clock.

eyeballs on the future CPA

Any other ideas?

Noted. Yes, although we have 150k purchased for us, I intentionally only applied the minimum increment of 50k right now to avoid wasting credits since they won't roll over. If I see we are getting near the 50k before month's end, I'll go ahead and apply another lot of 50k but not if it's within, say, two days of January. We are permitted to reserve our unused credits. (We are currently at over 4,000 used ad-free page views by registered members since yesterday afternoon.)

I am so happy to see some old friends here. I am fully on board and thanks to everyone who set up this new forum!!!

I think this is a great idea. Most Irvine communities, including mine, have a website but not a forum. I'd be willing to bet these would be some of the most active discussion groups on Talk Irvine.
Is talkirvine intended to be Irvine specific?

Will there still be a part of the forum dedicated to the rest of TheOC?

@freedomcm: Like the former, I believe there will be non-Irvine, non-OC, non-Cali, non-Milky Way sub-forums.

So how about those new SFRs in the Andromeda Galaxy?

Darn you, Iho. Must not read your comments when I'm drinking.

Yes, Freedom - there will be soon. Just waiting until the "restraining order" has been lifted tomorrow and then we'll have to decide where to put 'em! Still thinking of where to group the non-Irvine stuff or non-OC stuff ( / non-Andromeda) in a way that would make the most sense.

Who me? :-X <!-- s:) -->:)<!-- s:) --> I'm off to a slow start and will take a lot of effort to catch the post leaders. ;D

FWIW, IHB has already disabled the ability to create new threads in the forums. I guess they don't want any more chickens crossing the road! ;D
That was a fitting way to muck up the thread headers.

I got a feeling the 3 Stooges are not very happy with how this has shaken out. I am kind of surprised they have not pulled the plug already before any more "Negativity" gets posted.
It really kind of trashes the entire database when a new reader can see the death throws of the old forum.

And hes made NO mention in his blog. I am surprised his little Blog side kick AZDavid has not mentioned it either.
I'm taking advantage of USC's hectic schedule to give me a head start... although I doubt that will help.
You already got me dominated on the post count and the karma points. :'(

Edit - now my one and only Karma point is gone... :'( :'(

My $0.02: it's better to be an expert at one field, than jack of all trades & master of none.
Hahaha! I just went over to see IHB after a week. Now, I see what you guys have been doing. Hilarious!
I think I got carpel tunnel...I'm gonna go take a dozen asprin and do some vodka shots. Check you cats later.

Wow, y'all a lot more chatty than you had been in recent months. It's going to take me days to catch up on it all, but it's so refreshing. I've laughed out loud several times already. Thanks SoCal for not only setting this up, helping to revive the community and bring lurkers out of closet.

Was IHB itself a 2008 bubble that has burst?
