Watch out for scammers in Irvine

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
IR, would you care to elaborate on that gross incompetence? While it is true that the 2006 elections didn't turn out the way I would have liked to see them turn out, when was the last time any President's party gained representation in Congress in all 4 elections possible during an 8 year term? President Bush managed to increase his base in 3 of 4 elections. Even that is a rare feat, and hardly something that could be described as gross incompetence.

IRVINE123, can you tell me how President Bush screwed up in Iraq?

Is your objection to prosecuting the war in Iraq?

Is it due to failure to articulate the reasons we are there and the successes we are having?

If you had the power, what would you do differently?

Trooper, if approval ratings matter to you, you must have loved when Clinton was in office. There is a remarkable difference in styles between the two men. Through his policy of triangulation, President Clinton would go whichever way the political winds blew. Personally, I prefer someone who leads based on principles.

Personally, I prefer someone who leads based on principles

Absolutely. No damn Democrat understands how hard I work to put food on my family quite like that man does.

LawerLiz, no reason to be sorry. I don't see this turning into a heated discussion. Personally, I'm just interested in hearing the reasons people take various positions. I can address these issues in a civil manner.

Personally, I prefer someone who leads based on principles.

You mean, like launching a military attack on a country .....based on bad information ?

You mean, like launching a military attack on a country .....based on bad information ?

You give him too much credit. After watching the continued posturings on Iran. Information coming out on Katrina response. My gut tells me, he knew the truth of Iraq, but choose to ignore because it didn't fit his paradigm.

As for tax cuts Winex, I'd agree, however cuting taxes and increasing spending half a trillion dollars is far worse. It is both hypocrisy and irresponsible. It's like a parent taking their college kids credit card and going shopping on it. In the end, it's a great passing of the responsibility and the bill to someone else.

IMHO, any tax cut, that doesn't have a corresponding and maintained reduction in spending isn't a tax cut, it is a lie and tax increase because the money will still need to be taxed and it will need to be taxed to cover the spending and the interest on the on going revolving debt payment of the Treasury like a credit card that never is paid off.

Oh, the credit card will be "paid off" when the empire falls and all debts are cancelled, along with a huge die off in population etc. See Fall of Rome.

Probably won't happen for hundreds of years--we still have a republic. Sort of.

Well we have an inclusive oligarchy in the guise of a republic, anyway.

Which was what Rome really had. And they lasted 500 years after the republic died.

Bush is a total buffoon and Cheney, I don't even know where to start with him. These two have completely squandered the standing and influence of the US around the world. Of course there is sure to be some neo-con who will reply f**k the rest of the world, we got the bomb!! But that just demonstrates the backwoods ignoramous mentality that got us in this stiuation.

Just as bad are the Democrats who have not done anything about these two fools. I never thought I would say it because I have always been very politically motivated, but beyond the Irvine City Council, I hardly pay attention anymore. They truly are all the same. That said, despite my total lack of interest in anyone from either party in this upcoming cycle --- my vote will go to whomever demonstrates they will be focused on and successful at repairing our reputation and restoring the US to its status as world leader. And I don't think that will be Guilani.

Yep, the turning off of the political interest of people like thee and me is what is a severe harbinger of the future of the republic. My hub still listens to the debates. As I said, I don't like to listen to lies if I can avoid it, so I haven't been listening to them.

Yes, it has turned into a "whomever lies best, wins", hasn't it. It's a sad state of affairs...and I agree that both parties are just as guilty.

But my vote's for Hillary.

Trooper, perhaps you would like to read the text of the speech that President Bush gave to the United Nations on September 12. 2002. Despite what you hear from the mainstream media, there were several things that Iraq needed to do to avoid having the cease fire agreement that ended hostilities from Part 1 of the Gulf War voided.

What's done is done.

Now we have mess. It doesn't matter whether the reasons for the mess were good or bad. The mess is here.

Can he please forward a plan for ending the mess?

It started in 2003. It's nearly 2008. What's the timeline? What's the plan?

Trooper, come on, you have more class than that. Let's be all civil about this! If you don't agree, present the facts if you have time.
