IHS is an expert on woman's fashion... makes you wonder.  8)

Even before the kid, we never really did anything. I'm just not that big on Valentine's Day. I don't want flowers because I don't want my husband wasting money on upcharged roses which are just going to die in a week. It would be nice to have a nice dinner out, but I don't want to deal with V-Day crowds. Back in the pre-child days, we used to do our Valentine's dinner on the Saturday either before or after the big day.

I do like chocolate, though...so if he surprises me with that, I won't turn it down. :)

i'm with you!

Honestly, I don't mind if it's from the drugstore. I'd be happy with a Hershey's Pot of Gold. I think Godiva chocolates are certainly pretty and they taste good, but overpriced. I wouldn't want my husband to waste money on it. Also, when given the choice, I always patronize See's over Godiva because I like the candy and they give you free samples every time you go to the store!

You have good virtue and your husband is very lucky!

Thank you, but I think I'm actually just low-class and not sophisticated enough to appreciate the finer things.

Hopefully the chocolate is from Godiva and not from the local drugstore.

We were behind a parent that that was handing out Godiva boxes to all the teachers.
Our bags were from Michaels with chocolates purchased from Target.
I did feel a little uncomfortable

Don't feel awkward at all. They should. I don't even like Godiva chocolate (and I hardly ever meet a chocolate I don't like so that's saying a lot.) I'd take Target chocolate over Godiva any day of the week. To be honest, if I was your kid's teacher, I'd eat the Target candy and re-gift the Godiva like one would do with a Christmas fruitcake.

don't feel uncomfortable, we gave the teachers chocolates from trader joes!

I'm with you, Trace. I could do without the flowers and all that jazz. He doesn't need to prove he loves me. After all, he comes home from work everyday. That's enough for me.  :P Except I guess you could say the roles are reversed. I don't place any expectations on him to do things for me, however I set a high bar for myself. I always try to do something special whether it's make up a treasure hunt for him to find his candy, make custom cards for him (I used Tiny Prints to make a really cool one this year), I always cook him his favorite dinner by request every year plus a Valentine's themed-dessert of my choosing, and... ummmkay, well, Happy Valentine's Day! As with any holiday, it's more fun to give gifts than receive them.
