3 Million.....seems pretty weak. Couldn't he find some pork.....say in the 300 million range to gripe about ?

So, here is McCain's kind of 3 million dollar project.....<a href="http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/08/mccain-bear-problem.php">studying grizzly bear DNA.</a></blockquote>

Yeah! and on that note Can you show me where in the Constitution it says we should spend tax payers hard money to Fly to the Moon ie nasa.

The only part of the whole debate that caught my attention was the Meg Whitman part. I thought both candidates lacked substantive answers, but I really worry about McCain's economic decision making. Meg Whitman to lead us through the great depression? Really? Better to say nothing at all.

Warren Buffett I buy, and both McCain and Obama mentioned him (with both agreeing that Buffett supports Obama). McCain saying choosing someone who will make everyone feel secure, that was a good answer. But pointing to Meg Whitman? Ebay? Treasury Secretary?

Gimmicky. On an issue too serious to play with.

The only head of a corporation that I could imagine stepping up in this scenario is the head of Walmart or Costco. And I don't think they're good ideas either.

Let's hope so.

And he's thinking of Meg Whitman for Treasury Secretary? Senility must be setting in.

<em>The McCain resurgence plan would be available to mortgage holders that:

* Live in the home (primary residence only)

* <strong>Can prove their creditworthiness at the time of the original loan (no falsifications and provided a down payment</strong>). </em>

Well now, that just rules everyone in CA out, doesn't it.

So because I have been saving my money and had the god given sense

to hold off on buying. I GET NOTHING ? Because I didnt go to Vegas

and lose my azz. I GET NOTHING ? This is some new America we live in.

Reward those that took poor risks and lost. And those that were conservative

and saved. Screw Them. Time to move to Costa Rica and bail on this worthless

bunch of thieves we call a government. There is something wrong here.

-I have 8 or 11 houses my friend. can't remember? anyhow they are all losing value my friend. So I uhh we need to bail people out who's homes are losing value my friend. and we need to cut capitol gains taxes so when I sell a few of my houses I pay little.

You see friends the ceo of ebay has an idea and all the houses can go on ebay. then the govt can buy them up using Paypal.

In my opinion, this move by John McCain is where his campaign officially "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_the_shark">jumped the shark</a>."

From Wikipedia: "Jumping the shark is a colloquialism used by TV critics and fans to denote that point in a TV show or movie series' history where the plot veers off into absurd story lines or out-of-the-ordinary characterizations, undergoing too many changes to retain the original appeal of the series. Shows that have "jumped the shark" are typically deemed to have passed their peak as after this point critical fans can point to a noticeable decline in the show's overall quality.

The phrase refers to a scene in a three-part episode of the American TV series, Happy Days, first broadcast on September 20, 1977. In the "Hollywood" episode, Fonzie (Henry Winkler), wearing swim trunks and his trademark leather jacket, jumps over a penned-in shark while water skiing."

The McCain campaign is over. From now until the election, we are just killing time.

When I read this I was laughing. Here lies the problem. You have no plan to fix it.

You do realize that space is a defense program don't you?

[quote author="skek" date=1223534414]Get with the times, IrvineRenter, the new term is "<a href="http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=nuke the fridge&defid=3116751">nuke the fridge</a>."

<blockquote>Nuke the fridge is a phrase with a meaning similar to jump the shark.

The term comes from the film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, in which, near the start of the movie, Harrison Ford's character survives a nuclear detonation by climbing into a kitchen fridge, which is then blown hundreds of feet through the sky whilst the town disintegrates. He then emerges from the fridge with no apparent injury. Later in the movie, the audience is expected to fear for his safety in a normal fistfight.

Fans of the Indiana Jones series found the absurdity of this event in the film to be the best example of the lower quality of this installment in the series, and thus coined the phrase, "nuke the fridge."</blockquote></blockquote>

Personally I liked the movie and plan on buying it on DVD next week. Sure, that was an unbelievable scene, but was so was the ending. But for that matter, melting Nazis aren't exactly believable either.

I think your grasping. I found noting about Nasa. Anyhow I think you get the point. The govt funds lots of things and funding for education is important

I think funding for education is very important. since the feds paid for 3 years of my college tuition via pell grants.

But im sure much of what was learned about missles came from NASA

The United States Department of Defense (DOD or DoD) is the federal department charged with coordinating and supervising all agencies and functions of the government relating directly to national security and the military. The organization and functions of the DOD are set forth in Title 10 of the United States Code.

The DOD is the major tenant of The Pentagon building near Washington, D.C., and has three major components ? the Department of the Army, the Department of the Navy, and the Department of the Air Force. Among the many DOD agencies are the Missile Defense Agency, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA), the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), and the National Security Agency (NSA). The department also operates several joint service schools, including the National War College.

Can you point to the part of the Constitution that says that the Federal government should fund education? I don't seem to have that part in my copy of the Constitution.

Education is an investment.... an educated society is more productive, earns more and commits fewer crimes. I don't mind paying taxes for an investment like that.

I agree that education is essential. But that doesn't explain why the Feds should be subsidizing something they aren't authorized to engage in. There are state and municipal bodies that can handle these needs more effectively than the Feds. And here's another shocking idea, why not tax the users of education instead of everyone?
