Sorry, she's already spoken for. I think the family prefers a little cream in their coffee, anyway. Qwertette may have my eldest. If she doesn't like him, I've got a back-up. The Heir & The Spare. I'm way ahead of you.

thats what im talking about!

I just looked at the site again and found this disclaimer:

A security breach involving social media exposure of 2012?13 test material for the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program and/or the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) has been confirmed at this school site. This school is not eligible for state or federal award recognition during the 2013?14 school year.

Why do they have Filipino as a separate category?  Why can't they go with Asians?

probably because East Asians (Chinese, Korean, Japanese) segregate themselves into calling themselves "Asians"...Southeastern Asians and Filipinos are not seen as "Asians"...nor are Asian Indians.

I agree with this but I also wonder why Vietnamese is not a separate category considering they have a bigger population here compared to Filipinos and Vietnam is in the same Southeast Asian region as the Philippines

In the government's eyes, Indian is Asian, but Filipino is Filipino....because they were a US colony? shrug.

I listed some other implications such as construction and repair access to the home that needs consent from either the HOA or the adjacent angry neighbors. Take for instance some zero lot homes require access to the neighbors yard in order to paint one side of the home or to repair stucco and water damage. A nasty neighbor could do a number of careless things that could damage
the foundation, stucco, increase soil settlement, crack, mold growth and even encouraging penetration of harmful insects such as foundation termites.

It is nice being able to walk all the way around my house and be on my property the whole time.

Street is not a part of HOA  or homeowners interest. It is called the Right of way.

This is the biggest problem when you don't own that access to your garage in a detached condo. That piece of land where the the cars were parked belongs to a fractional interest of each homeowner and everyone has the right to file a complaint or entitled to have both cars towed. Rule of thumb is always buy a home where you own your land contiguous to the public street and abuts to the back of sidewalk. I posted this in another thread but no one seems to understand the implication until this thread. There are many more implications other than parking issues.

Isn't the public street also a shared interest?  Someone can easily block that as well.

my kid will be checking the "hispanic" box. i think i received the harvard offer letter in the mail the other day already - class of 2031.

1. unless your kid is already 4, its class of 2035.
2. last time I checked, my son will get that spot.  Legacies > Hispanics.

i meant entering class.  legacies > hispanics, doubt it.  they got plenty of other legacies, they need more hispanics.

Not at Harvard.  ~30% admit rate for legacies. Legacies make up ~10% of the class. Plus it's all about the endowment. Legacies and alumni donation goes hand in hand.  Your kid can go to Yale. They don't love legacies as much.

screw yale, she can go to the harvard of the west, stanford.

Agreed.  I have a power wheel path planned for the little ones already.

Note: I must remove AC. Condenser first.

How much do you think a Harvard interview weigh in the admission determination?

I think it is the last step to be vetted by an alumnus and that can make or break the admission.  I've got a friend who has been doing these interviews for years.  Now I just need to mastermind a plan to extract money from FCBs to guarantee a Harvard admission. What's the going rate?  ;D

I had a Harvard interview when I went through the college process.  I think it definitely ruined my chances.  I had this black alumni couple who were uber political.  All they wanted to know was how I viewed the world and what my political passions were and how I could contribute to the Harvard scene politically.  It was an awful interview that I will never forget.

I have to question the credibility if this statement. We all know they don't let black people into Harvard :-)
