Well considering that Woodbridge homes built in the 70s had them... it's not that slippery.

Although I'm not sure if I would rather have zero lot line and a driveway than 5 foot sideyards and no driveway.

Neither should rich, smart or good looking... but sometimes you have to compromise.
Come on now IHO, haven't you heard of the saying:  "If you expect the best, you'll get the best"

I thought it was: "Expect the best, but prepare for the worst."
No, that one is" "Expect the worst, and you'll never be disappointed"

More than 30 days on market and still not selling... gee I wonder why.  Maybe now that Stonegate elementary is on lottery has a factor.  WB Elementary has had very mixed reviews and for some that could be a deciding factor.

Hi Shokunin, do you know if only those who are not residing in the Stonegate neighborhood (i.e those residing in Woodbury) have to go through the lottery , or would it apply to those in the Stonegate neighborhood as well (i.e is the school too full to take in its own neighborrhood kids)?

Hi bookworm,

If you live in Stonegate then that's your assigned elementary school, no lottery for you.  But since Irvine allows other neighborhoods to attend other elementary schools, it was usually based on class size and availability.  Now that stonegate is being built out they are limiting the mass of Woodbury residents that are already enrolled at Stonegate.

Hmm...sales of TIC's $1M homes aren't going so well. Saw two of their homes listed on Red Fin today:

Stonegate elementary is a lottery school???  You mean if I live in WB, I can't send my kids to SG unless I get picked?  I don't like year round schools.  I thought i read on the irvine school district website that i would get to chose if year round WB is not a good option for families?

Yes, you can chose other elementary schools, but it may end up being Greentree, Deerfield, or some other school that has availability.

There are pros and cons to this.  One con is middle schools and high schools are not based on which elementary school you came from but where your residence is.  So you could have kids who have grown up together at Stonegate elementary and the new middle school, but will split to Irvine HS and Northwood HS if one kid lived at WB and the other SG.  Also there are no guarantees once you are in a given school that you'll stay there.  Our neighbor was at Plaza Vista for a few years then was notified that they were full and they would need to attend their local assigned school or apply at another school.  How horrible for the kids

Here's two links about enrollment availability:

Not sure about now but a few years ago when I lived in Irvine (WP), I went to Plaza Vista Elem. to enroll my son and they said that since the school is heavily impacted, my son WILL NOT get in.  Just for knowledge I asked if I lived in the WPII area that is zoned for PV school would he be guaranteed a spot?  The admin said unfortunately they are so severely impacted, they actually have to enroll some kids into other schools even though they live in the PV zone.
Again, this was a different Irvine school a few years ago.  Not sure how it is now since I don't live in Irvine anymore.
