Looks like TIC should reach out to the community and do its best to lure a Trader Joes to Woodbridge Village. I know the Company doesn't do much to support local businesses, but this would be a great move to show its efforts in resurrecting the original example for a master planned community. More shops in the center to attract visitors and fewer offices where people won't stay around.

There is a already one one on Culver which is not that far away.

I think they were on the right track with a cultural grocery that had mini-eateries inside... just chose the wrong culture. If it was a Japanese market like Mistuwa it would have done better (but there is already one in Heritage Plaza).

Maybe they should do what they are doing with the Barnes&Nobles space at the District (and what they did with that OC Mix at SOHO), create a food/goods market of sorts in that space. Give retail opportunities to some smaller businesses.

I don't think it had to do with the ethnicity or culture...Assi Market was apparently not very good from the start.  A lot of Koreans visited it when it first opened but did not go back.

Well said. Any type of location that will attract visitors and encourage people to spend time (money) would be great for the area.

This should fit that description. Build it and they will come.  ;)

Veggie Grill opening at the Marketplace tomorrow

And just as they did when they opened the last Irvine location, they are going to offer $50 Gift Cards to the first 50 guests in line at its Tustin* new Irvine restaurant on opening day--a significant reward if you can go and get there no later than the first 49 people.

I will not be a customer.

Any particular reason?  I like their sweet potato fries and their strawberry lemonade.

I hate sweet potato anything and I refuse to eat any kind of fake meat.  All That BBQ FTW!

Wow the power of free is amazing. Just drove by and There are ppl lined up in beach chairs at the veggie grill waiting for it to open. Lines pretty long. Surprisingly, the first few ppl in line aren't Asian.
Just proves that those people are idiots and need a life and/or a job.

Summertime...so I wonder if there are a few college students/teens there.

The Haircutters closed their location at University Town Centerhttp://www.yelp.com/biz/the-haircutters-irvine-3

I had been going there since 1996 and got a text from my stylist saying they closed the location down and that he is working elsewhere now. Some of the stylists are renting stations at Inter Fashion Hair Design (next to Golden Spoon) in the same center.

Paul is currently at:

Inter Fashion Hair Design
4199 Campus Dr. Suite D
Irvine, CA 92612
Tuesday - Saturday 10am-6pm

Sweet Pea's Salon
10130 Warner Ave. Suite D
Fountain Valley, CA 92708
Sunday 10am-5pm
Monday 11am-7pm

Denny's off of Culver and the 5 is closing tomorrow.

They've been there for a few decades.

Free order of pancakes tomorrow as thank you to all the customers.
