PENFED is DA BOMB!!!

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I was in the market to get back into a BMW (I'll post pictures of it for Graph after I pick it up next week) and I was looking around for private party used car auto loan. I looked at various lenders and ended up going with PenFed. Those guys were such a pleasure to work with and the rate was unbeatable. I got a super rate of 3.99% for a 60-month loan. It was so easy to apply online and they actually called me the next morning to clear up the application because I did have a break in employment and I had to go over the lease amounts on my rents properties. I had to fax them over the lease agreements and two paystubs and we were done. I highly recommend using these guys!

Very close...I was thinking about get an M5 which would be good for the realtor thing but I got an 05 M3 Comp package with 38k miles for $28k which I'll track a few times a year (I attached a link to a picture). I was looking at getting the new model of the M but wasn't able to find the color/option combo I wanted and sellers weren't very negotiable on their prices. I wonder if Graph will give me a thumbs up on the purchase.

Nice car. Never had an M before (had an alpina but not an M). I have been looking around for an M5 but waiting until I buy a house - so could be a looong time

SC, your payments come out to around $515/month? Watch out those cars are chick magnets?

I did the same thing when I was still single, enjoy it! I drove around for years in my old beat up 89 Honda Prelude; saved every penny I had. No girls took me seriously; they had to pass the Prelude test! As soon as I went big and bought my M3, I got engaged within a year. I thought I would always keep the bimmer, kinda like my get away car from the fianc?; but having three coupes between us just didn?t make any sense. Had to sell the M3 within the first year of marriage; we deck the Yellow 95 out on our wedding day and drove it home, that was a nice memory!

PS... really enjoy it while you can... NOW we have two sedans, I drive a Volvo and the wife a Camry... and we're contemplating a mini-van :-(

Tman, quick! We'll meet at my place at noon to plot out the intervention.

RC, trust me when your kids get older you got have the nice souped up car and the bumping stereo to maintain some sort of coolness in your child's eye. You are going to be doing a lot of drop offs and pick ups two blocks away from your child's real destination if you get that minivan.

Yeah, $515 and change per month. I'm going to do the auto debt from the account I opened with them. I actually used to have a Carbon Black 05 M3 which I bought in 05 right after I got my job offer coming out of SC B-school. I used to track that car about 4-5 times a year and plan on doing it with this car. The nice thing about this car is it has an extended maintenance and warranty from BMW North American and is worth at least $30k but the seller had to sell it since his wife got laid off recently.

Btw, the new M3s come in sedans as well plus they are cheaper than the coupes.

Yeah, intervention! you must of glanced over the highlighted parts above. Take RC out on the track before he is cast to uncool parent land. :)

Hey... don't be hatin' on a mini-van until you've actually used one for a while. ALL family cars should have auto sliding doors (or those wing-type DeLorean ones).

M3, that price, with that mileage, with that color combo definitely gets my thumbs up. Great purchase, and two thumbs up for not being a sissy bimmer owner and wanting to go track the bad boy. That is what they are made for. Take you on the twistys FTW!

Wait... you did go with old school stick, and not the SMG. If you went with the SMG, then you might regret it as a commuter in traffic. I can shift smoother in a 58 VW bus with a half blown clutch in bare feet than I can shift in a brand new SMG.

Okay... I have been nice to you so far, but now you have crossed the line. Go into your wife's LV bag and grab your balls, at least for the day, and go get yourself a new M3 sedan. DO IT! You have no excuse, it is a sedan, a comfy sedan at that, and it is what you want. Sedan + hawtness = roundcorners the cool dad. If I am right about the LV bag, then I am right about your balls, go get them back and go get your manhood back. Get the M3 sedan. Don't be a loser like IHO, no one wants that for you to be the one who thinks sliding rear doors are cool, we only need one person around here who thinks that is cool. Sacrifices have already been made, you don't need to make any more. Using a sliding door for convenience, just means you are sacrificing your manhood. If you don't do it now, when you do it later, it may already be too late. You are a mid-life crisis waiting to happen if you don't.

You just trapped yourself graph... real men don't need a car to define their manhood.

RC... don't listen to graph... taking care of your wife and kid is more manly than most.

EDIT: This is what happens when I type too fast... I meant Graph... not USC.

USC

Nice pick. M3 is a great ride. Its not the Porsche but it will get the job done.

And I think your good for using it for business as well. There is some "write off" mileage

for sure. Excellent price. Now is the time to buy these used higher end cars.

But still second best German Car made. LOL.

If my business keeps picking up I may go for a used "F" car next year and sell my AMG.

You only live once and I am getting up there on lifes odometer.

Enjoy the new ride !!!

Graph, I appreciate the gesture, but it?s been a long, long time, since I tied my manhood to an object. I know you probably won?t understand this (and I?ll be more than happy to explain) but for me, true masculinity comes from God. My identity as a man, as a husband and father comes from Him alone.

Yeah, I get caught up all the time, and forget that. Thanks for reminding me! And this is what the OC Pathology is all about, right? To be a man, you have to get the girl, the house, the car, right? Without it, you?re just not The Man! What happens when your car gets stolen, breaks down or gets old? What happens if your wife/girlfriend leaves you or your house slides into the ocean? It?s really tricky when your manhood depends on it!

No, the wife does not have the LV bag; although there is one $1,600 bag she?s been eyeing for the longest time. I keep telling her that she can have it, just go pick it up! But she never does. She also knows her identify does not depend on the bag alone. Now, that is not to say she does not like fine things. I hate to brag but she does have a $25,000 Tiffany wedding ring and band. But since the baby, she just chooses to wear the $500 band I got from a San Gabriel jewelry store.

I ask her sometimes, when we see a M3 or an M5 on the road. Hey dear, can I have that car? She always says, yes! And that is good enough for me?

RC - don't listen to Graph. He's never had his little boy run a Hotwheels car down the side of his door and scrape it or accidentally leave a cup of milk on the floor overnight, spoil, and explode on the carpet under the seat. It sounds cool until they're jumping up and down on the hood of your car.

I am anxiously awaiting Graph's entrance in fatherhood, it will be exceedingly interesting. Of course, even though my husband always chooses the minivan over his car when he has to take the kids, he still NEVER calls the minivan his car. I'm sure Graph was joking and would never suggest that RC goes out and blows the family budget on a car to make himself look good, right Graph?
