I upgraded to the espresso. I think the upgrade is worth it. Problem is that if you upgrade the cabinets, you have to upgrade the rails, which can be expensive.

Since you went with the espresso cabinets, maybe you can answer this question I have. Are the legs on the island espresso stained maple legs, or painted white? This assumes you didn't go with the "waterfall" island that eliminates the legs.

I confirmed that the legs match whatever stain the cabinets are in. This makes sense, but I'm not making any assumptions as I go through these upgrade items.

White seemed to be the choice of color last year, are we trending back to darker cabinets?

Who knows.  I think you should just get the cabinet color you want.  I will always want white cabinets.  Just makes everything brighter and bigger IMO.

Thanks, I just can't help but think resale sometimes. (What would Mr. FCB like?  ???)

If new home models are indicative of trends, then around here lighter shade satin wood floors are very popular, which pair well with white cabinets, colored cabinets, or very dark stained cabinets.

Who knows what the trend is.  Even if it's trending now, who's to say what it's going to be like 5-10 years down the track.  My advice is to go with what you love.  My preference has always been white cabinets so that's what I chose.  I didn't get the upgrade - preferred the pared down simplicity/Shaker style, to the upgraded ones in the Model Plan 3X.  I didn't like the waterfall kitchen island in the Plan 2 (it dominated the space), but it would look good in a Plan 3.

Did you make any upgrades?

We could choose the white cabinets, but we'll upgrade to the MDF version and minimally add the 4 glass doors around the range, and probably glass doors across the top row. You have to do something to break-up all of that white.

Agreed.

I haven't been by the office in a while, how is Phase 14 doing and has Phase 15 been released yet?  I know that was planned for June some time.

There are a couple Plan 1s available in Phase 14, one of them with a huge backyard, but that's about it. I think Phase 15 is scheduled for release in mid-June.

Is anyone planning on attending the "Meet the Builder Luncheon" on Monday June 22nd? I'm not sure what phases are invited. I'd guess the last two or three at least. It should be fun meeting some new neighbors.

Theres a Community Soiree at "The Resorts" this weekend. My buddy, who lives in CAPELLA, told me I could tag along and meet some rich folks. Maybe I'll get to meet Paris!  ;D
