[quote author="skek" date=1222321384]I was always a Vader fan as a kid. I think I set a record by dressing up as Darth Vader for like seven consecutive Halloweens. And that was looong before you could buy today's costumes with voice synthesizers and illuminated light sabers. No way, man, I used the lid off a shoe box and a whiffle ball bat painted red...</blockquote>

Good Lord, man. You were a Republican from birth! ;-P

[quote author="frank69m" date=1222198424]I moved here from the east coast a little over a year ago and I've come to the realization that the OC has a certain type of stereo type "typical" person living here:

(1) Drives a leased (cause they really can't afford to purchase) BMW, Audi or Mercedes

(2) Has 3 kids (older ones)

(3) Drives fast and thinks they are a bad ass on the roads

(4) Are Republicans

(5) Women wears Prada and Gucci purses

(6) Cocky and only think of themselves

Are most people here in the OC leasing or have purchased a condo?</blockquote>

1.I lease because bmw subsidizes their leases and its easier to write off. See, because i'm intelligent I add the numbers up and figure out if in the ends its cheaper for me to lease or buy. And I can afford to buy, if you're wondering. Check the username.

2. No kids.

3. Only drive fast sometimes. And I think i'm a badass all the time, not just on the roads.

4. Libertarian. I would have voted GOP if RP had taken the nomination.

5. Some do, but none of the ones I date. I'm not into <strike>chicks</strike> women who are into status symbols.

6. I'm pretty cocky, but I don't just think of myself.

25w100K...

You're not into people who value status symbols yet you drive a BMW? LOL

And I thought you said it's your girlfriend's 100k, not yours? If you guys were to break up the $$ goes buh-bye. California is only a community property state whereas you've been married a certain number of years.

Interesting you are not into women who are into status symbols...Wether it is better for you personally to lease or buy a car--you did choose that car to be a BMW. Status symbol? What if some chick er girl wasn't into you--because you chose a BMW vs a Honda???

I'm the lazy ass who said that. Can't let 25 take my bullet (I want some sort of jpg award for this).

And would ppl stop profiling themsleves on this thread. Its about the typical OCer, which IHB posters are far from. OP's observation is dead nuts

I never really thought of BMWs as a status symbol. They are about as common as hondas are around here, and they certainly aren't more expensive than all the range rovers, mercedes, and porsches that are all over the place.

I really just like the way they drive. My first bmw cost me a whopping 10,000 dollars that I bought when I was 18. (parents graciously chipped in 2k for it, so I'm not a completely self-made man). This last year I decided to lease a new one. *shrug*

I like to let people wonder, they immediately make ass-umption and of corse they are wrong.... Its absolutely halarity to let people park the Focus.... Everybody and their brother has a BWM/M-B/Audi. I still wish i had my 1988 Hyundai Excel (with a 350 hp EVO motor), it would have been major fun. Oh well...

Good luck.

Back on topic, I have an Alpine in my wife's car and in my work truck. The SUV has a Pioneer. I like the Bluetooth functions on the Pioneer, but it's interface is a little clumsey for the Ipod.

Stereo types? Humm... I just have 5.1 surround sound. But I have integrated 3 independent amplifiers. Front and rear as well as a subwoofer. The full range speakers are custom boxes with modified French Audax drivers.

The sub system is a dual B-4 alignment. A true subwoofer system with a -3db from 11hz to 66hz with the first B4 box and 66 to approximately 333hz for the second box. After that the subwoofer in the system drops like at rock at -11-12db/octive.

The downside to this great performance is that the system is HUGE (you can't create a minature 32hz wave), so the boxes are about 130 lbs each.

anyways

good luck

not really though I do drive fast... its not about badass so much as it is about wanting to not be stuck behind some grandma in an SUV.

(4) Are Republicans

Libertarian sorry.

(5) Women wears Prada and Gucci purses

Oh hale no, hermes for me only buddy

(6) Cocky and only think of themselves

What are you saying its not all about me? How can that even be possible? (eyeroll)

Yeah We bought a house, not a condo a house... we have never leaded a car and are utterly uninterested in keeping up with the joneses. We do our best to keep up with the Wongs though.

Truthfully I moved here 5 years ago from LA, and it took me 3 years to stop crying I hated it so much. But now I've sort of found my niche and I couldnt care less about the "OC stereotypes" except to mock the endlessly.

Ha ha... this was my seinor design project for college.... I just never stopped designing. I don't know if I can call whales, but with enough power, i can shake a building on its foundation (just have to find its resonant frequency).....

When my neighbors get too unruly, I do fire it up and break out the frequency generator (just my laptop computer.....)

I know prolonged exposure to lower frequencies can cause an upset stomach.... but unfortunately everybody has a different frequency that they respond to.
