Perhaps. Although I have a separate account for ATM cash. That way, if my ATM card is stolen or compromised, the thieves only have access to a few grand at most. My primary account has a number of security features and isn't linked to any credit card, ATM card or electronic debit.</blockquote>

Might I suggest the Braised Rabbit at <a href="http://www.jagerhaus.net/">Jagerhaus </a>in Anaheim? Served for both lunch and dinner.

What will you be doing to me once you find out that you have been locked in the trunk?

<em>

*Oh yeah... IR2, I left the number to that potential homebuyer in the trunk. Thunk! Nighty night.*</em>

Hey who is that disheveled guy ranting about crackers and cakes to the high-end hobo with the Prada bag? Is that Deuce?

[quote author="bkshopr" date=1222241748][quote author="SoCal78" date=1222239829][quote author="bkshopr" date=1222238503]

Socal,

I think buying a home in Irvine may not be suitable for you. The services you do are not in Irvine. Irvine has no program or shelters for the needy and helpless. There is a battered women shelter by UCI and that is it. The local politics and economic formula drove many decisions. NIMBYism is why I left Irvine.</blockquote>

Well we certainly are not far from Santa Ana and other areas of OC where one can live in Irvine but volunteer close-by. Also the IUSD appears to take a philanthropic approach with it's no-person-turned-away policy of the School Readiness Program to ensure all kids get the same good headstart before Kindergarten, and many parents volunteer their time in the schools to help the children. Hey! Speaking of less fortunate - Do you know I saw a hobo at Jeffrey Open Space Trail on Sunday? I was a little surprised. I hadn't seen one in Irvine yet. But hey at least he has good taste. :) Yes I do feel conflicted for wanting to live here but I often meet other Irvinites especially through church who like to do community service projects. It is not prevelant in Irvine but it is not hard to find either. The egomaniacs do get to me, though.</blockquote>

I predicted the space around there a year ago would be ideal for the high class hobo who thinks he is better than other hobos. Bus shelter with roof is ideal for rain and sun protection. Near-by restroom by the Jeffrey Open Space is ideal for sponge bath and other needs. Albertson down the street with dumpsters full of expired edible foods. Goodwill recycling donation center by the freeway carpool parking lots and behind 99 Ranch Market are often without attendant. Hobos have the first pick every Sunday morning of used Pradas and Gucci. BTW, the parking lot stinks with urine and feces since Goodwill for the last 15 years has not provided restroom for the employees there. I am sharing my retirement plan with the all of you. Many nights the gate to the community pool and spa is open. Hobo's mortgage $0, association dues $0, property tax $0, Mello Roos $0 and living a resort lifestyle, PRICELESS!!</blockquote>

[quote author="frank69m" date=1222198424]I moved here from the east coast a little over a year ago and I've come to the realization that the OC has a certain type of stereo type "typical" person living here:

(1) Drives a leased (cause they really can't afford to purchase) BMW, Audi or Mercedes

(2) Has 3 kids (older ones)

(3) Drives fast and thinks they are a bad ass on the roads

(4) Are Republicans

(5) Women wears Prada and Gucci purses

(6) Cocky and only think of themselves

Are most people here in the OC leasing or have purchased a condo?</blockquote>

I work with people from the east coast, and stereotypes were created for a reason:

(1) Drives a Lincoln or Cady, usually always American car with rust

(2) Has 3 ex wives/husbands

(3) Drives slow and doesn't really know how to drive at all

(4) Are Union Democrats who scam their way into disability claims

(5) Women wear DKNY and other Sex in the City brands

(6) Arrogant and talk with an annoying accent

I've been living here for 6 years, and I have never met anyone who fit into all or 2/3 of these categories.

I also take issue with a leased car, I could easily afford my Lexus for cash, but I lease it since I don't want to drive it for more than 3 years and don't want to deal with a hassle of selling my car every 3 years.

As some of you knew already in the "How Cheap Are You?" thread, I am already started on my early retirement a good decade ago. BTW, I use the OCPL to browse the Internet all day, free!</blockquote>

That is a sound pre-hobo retirement plan. Do you need a library card or registered ID to use the library computer? Would an address like Stop 35 OCTA Route, Jefffrey Open Space Trail, Irvine, CA qualify me for a library card?

[quote author="Astute Observer" date=1222303321]What I did was sent a letter to myself at some real address at Irvine, and go back there after the mailman left to retrieve the letter a day or two later. Costed me something like 33 cents to buy the stamp, but it is worth every soda cans... I mean pennies. This is how I get the proof of residence for the library card, as well as get my boys to the University Park Elementary.</blockquote>

Any luck in finding Nintendo DS in the Goodwill donation piles for your boys? I found a bunch of Pradas and I am going to sell them on Ebay. The night before trash collection I collected all the cans and bottles from the gray trash bins from all the non gated neighborhoods. There were so many cans I had to tie 5 Kohl shopping carts together. I made $45 from the recycling center and got myself a PO Box for all my Ebay transactions. That Goodwill is a gold mine for cash. Now I can do my Ebay at the local Library instead of the basement at the UCI library.

That hobo must be living the good life. All he has to do is collect all of the Redbull, Rockstar, Monster and other energy drinks from Irvine High and IVC and take them over to the recycling center behind 99 Ranch Market and he will probably have more money than McMonigle.

I thought I got the system down to a science and apparently my fellow hobos out there are doing much better. I got to keep up with the hobo Joneses.

A problem would-be Irvine hobos will find is the dismal selection of fortified wines and malt liquors available in Irvine markets. The best I could find near Northpark was at the local Albertsons whose best was Steel Reserve 211 in 22 oz cans. Now, I?m not criticizing Steel Reserve on account of its appearance, flavor, mouthfeel, or aroma, but malt liquor is only properly enjoyed from a small mouth forty ounce bottle, wrapped in a brown paper bag.
