Um, sometimes my bra or thong shows on accident...I'd get arrested in Atlanta? Damn.

Have they looked at fashion lately? Showing bra straps on purpose (as long as they are pretty) is "in" now.

It gets hot in Atlanta. I'm sure the runners aren't too happy about the sports bra thing either.

While a thong or bra strap showing can be tacky, I don't think it's indecent. They really have nothing better to legislate about? Seriously?

So what would happen if you were fully clothed in a "normal" manner and decided to wear additional undergarments over your cloths? Would that be illegal?

I do agree with that ordinance. But the bra straps, I don't agree with.

As to the baggy pants with the underwear sticking out. I saw that just this morning at Target. The kid pants dropped pass his ass his dingy boxer exposed. Geez. The thing with dressing appropriately is important. Nothing like a job applicant not knowing how to dress up conservatively. I once had a job applicant with a shirt and tie on. But his khaki was so baggy that it drooped. I am sure that was normal for him when he was in high school. But not in the adult world.

I saw someone come in for an interview with a t-shirt that read "Get off my back"!

I hear these stories and it makes me wonder if age discrimination on the job will soon be a thing of the past. Us over the hill (past 30) farts will be the only ones who can dress reasonably well and actually show up for work.

Reason, I understand where you're coming from but that is not something the government should get involved in. . .it's the parents' job to deal with their kids. It is inappropriate for people to swear in areas where children are present but that happens all the time. The government shouldn't go out and ban swearing. . .

Irvinecommuter,

I am all for parental guidance. But the fact that these youngsters are walking around dressing like this tells me that their is lack of parents guidance. Hence, if the parents can't enforce it at home. Then when you leave that home and into the public. The government will have a say.

I don't want to say it's right or wrong. But you have to know your environment and dress appropriately. There has to be law and order.

I didn't even think about the kids...lots of adult women show their bra straps now.

Also, I was wondering if they only specified boxers and thongs. If that's the case I see different underwear styles becoming popular in Atlanta quickly. Where to draw the line?

I'm all for criminalizing something that does genuine harm to society. Exposed underwear straps do not qualify. Be careful when wishing for the government to legislate poor/good taste -- Next they'll be coming after us for our late-night forum habits.

And you know like Irvinecommuter stated. It's a parents/child issue. But heck if the parents can't discipline wild kids. Then these wild kids will be kept in line in public.

You know I remember the days when you walk indoor. Be that a bank, church, classrooms, etc. you take off your hat. I remember the days where you don't leave the house with your shirts untuck.

At least they do one of the two...
