North Tustin/Santa Ana

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I don't understand this pissing contest one bit.

BK is stating that Irvine is functional but not astetic. He admits the hidden garage is not functional.

IHO wants a nice place to raise his family, and the convience of a three car garage. He admits living in home that resembles a muffler shop is OK by him, and doesn't care about living in a classic or timeless neighborhood at this point in his life.

Graph is being combative because I'm not around to do it anymore.

How do these viewpoints clash? If this mean old man gets it, WTF people.

I was close to saying exactly the same thing no_vas just said. I guess it's gotten so boring around here that everyone has to nitpick to death in order to provide some excitement. I never thought I'd see the day that no_vas becomes the mediator.

This is how desireable certain neighborhoods in No. Tustin are. I had been watching this home hoping it would come down in price. It is about a block from where I grew up and one of my favorite neighborhoods. It sold in 7 days in this market. Go figure.

It's a beautiful home with an awesome large yard but the wood and red paint is a bit too much for me.

Exactly.

But in the very least... it got you to post over your self-imposed limit... GOAL ACCOMPLISHED.

Now I just got to figure out a way to get you post some more bong pics... short of pretending I'm Janet.

I love the wood, but yes, the red paint would have to go!

You don't need to give yourself credit for that. I took down the pic based upon the dialog I had with bkshopr - anyone who wishes to view the original thread will easily see that.

Your post reminded me of the ending of Ghostbusters 2 where the idiot is shooting the sludge on the outside of the building and then he starts cheering "I did it!" "I did it!" when it evaporates, not realizing that it had nothing to do with his efforts.

Whoah... you actually still read these forums? I'm honored that my post got your attention... unless someone directed you here.

Just like your pictures on the main blog... much of what I post is for hyperboly... but I'll continue to stand by my contention that a picture of Yoda as a representation of an asian borders on racism just as much if not more than how you thought bk's posts did. You never refuted the fact that an asian can actually see that image as offensive considering the Jedi concept is modeled after the Kung Fu movie stereotype that many asians still have issues with to this day.

Now if I recall correctly, you wanted to drop this subject... but if you want to rehash it... I'm game... open up another thread in the Water Cooler.

Otherwise, I don't think you ever answered my question about what kind of garage you have and what type of setup you prefer... or at least what you think of North Tustin/Santa Ana homes.

I recognize my short coming in the way that I write. I have always admitted that English was my biggest fear in college. I could see why many interpreted my writing as being a racist. I appreciate the dialogue and the understanding.

[quote author="bkshopr" date=1241073543]Kids know what is negative and exclude them from the drawing. I googled "kids drawing house" and I could not find a single one with a garage. Then I added garage to my search and no kids drawings came up.

From my research Asians and Pacific Islanders love garages at the front. I wonder kids from this ethnicity draw houses with garages. My daughter when she was 5 she drew houses with rotated chimneys.

I wondered why many children include the chimneys in their drawings but consistently exclude the garage?

For the Western culture, the concept of a house is a place of shelter, a roof over one's head. This is why you see the roof and walls in the archetypical house. There is a door, and windows on the exterior for point of access and light. Besides the roof, wall, door and window, another important component of a house is its hearth. It provide warmth, light, and place where food is cook, esp. when outdoor cooking is not practical due to various reason. It is represented by the chimney, and smoke is often added to indicates that the house is a "living" one, not a abundent one. The garage is the modern of horse stalls. Until the modern age, the stalls is usually keep separate from the living quarter due to the smell and pests issue. It is never a integral part of a house. This is why the archetypical representation of a house does not include the tell tale sign of a garage in the house.

There are very little difference between Western concept of house and the Asian ones in modern age. There are different terms for a SFR and an apartment. When asked to draw their home, each will draw the corresponding structures. When ask to draw a house, it is usually the familiar structure with a slope roof, detached, even if the drawer lives in a high rise. The concept of home is different from a house. Home, in some chinese subcultures, for example has a farm component. Specifically, there is a "pig" inside the chinese word for home (jia). The similarity of house between the various cultures, however, is probably due to television and entertainment, and was greatly influenced by the Western concept.

Hollywood is notorious in creating imagery for the world to see.

The nice family lives in a Father of the Bride style house.

The dysfunctinal family lives in a house with garage at the front.

The killer lives in a white modern house.

I agree; nice house and yard, but somebody really likes orange and red. Check out the sale records-it sold for exactly $318,000 three times, in 1994, 1995, and 1997. Weird.

I am relatively unfamiliar with the North Tustin area but really like the houses you see on Redfin etc. with the big yards, older houses, better value for money than Irvine. I believe this area is roughly zip code 92705 but that it includes parts of Santa Ana and Tustin. Are there any parts that should be avoided for high crime, bad schools? Is it a red flag that a particular house has a Santa Ana address instead of North Tustin? Great schools is a must for us as we have small kids. Thanks in advance for any information.

North Tustin is Santa Ana (both 92705). It's just a way to avoid telling someone you live in Santa Ana. It's an unincorporated area. If you can afford it, stay within the Foothill High School district. Not that the Tustin High zone is horrible, but the schools in the Tustin High boundaries have declined somewhat over the years (compared to when I lived there).

The school is over shadowed by the newer schools in Tustin and Irvine. Asians raised the bar so much when Foothill stayed the same it is considered in a decline.

For those of you who have been waiting for the perfect No. Tustin home (and have a little over 2 million to spend!) this one is absolutely stunning.

That is way more home than I would ever need, but that is truly a beautiful home. It is very rare that someone will do an addition with era like materials such as plaster. Nice find!

Heh, it even has a nice deck where I can set up a driving range pad to hit golf balls onto my neighbors' roofs (Entourage style), with CK, Deuce, Ipo, and Skekker, when I have my IHB house warming party. That is a feature I look for in my home search in N. Tustin. Hope you don't live below me.
