I always order Taco Bell using the app. The Taco Bell on barranca by the district has self order kiosks. I've been wondering when McDonald's would switch to this

Congratulations!!! Here is your raise...and your fired!! So predictable.

Wendy?s Serves Up Big Kiosk Expansion As Wage Hikes Hit Fast Food

Wendy?s (WEN) said that self-service ordering kiosks will be made available across its 6,000-plus restaurants in the second half of the year as minimum wage hikes and a tight labor market push up wages.

It will be up to franchisees whether to deploy the labor-saving technology, but Wendy?s President Todd Penegor did note that some franchise locations have been raising prices to offset wage hikes.

McDonald?s (MCD) has been testing self-service kiosks. But Wendy?s, which has been vocal about embracing labor-saving technology, is launching the biggest potential expansion.

If you've ever used the kiosks at Taco Bell, it's really not the most user-friendly experience.

The problem is the display doesn't show you all the items/options so you spend a lot of time scrolling through the different screens. Unless you know exactly what you want to order, it takes more time to place your order.

This might work better with McDs since their menu is not as varied... but with the number of combinations Taco Bell has, the lines actually get pretty long at lunch time. What would help is if they had the full menu displayed above the kiosks (at the Taco Bell on Barranca, it's only over one side of the kiosks).

The other problem is the kiosks don't take cash.

The sunny side of this, you will always need people to maintain the machines that build the robots, until they build maintenance robots, but then you need people to build the maintenance robots... until the singularity.

Protest your way to extinction....brilliant!!

Building robot McDonald's staff 'cheaper' than hiring workers on minimum wage

A former McDonald's CEO warned that robots will take over staff jobs at the fast food empire - because it's cheaper than employing humans.

Ed Rensi has said that buying highly skilled robotics is a cheaper alternative than employing people on minimum wage to work in the company's worldwide restaurants.

"It?s cheaper to buy a $35,000 (?24,000) robotic arm than it is to hire an employee who?s inefficient making $15 (?10.20) an hour bagging French fries.

"It's nonsense and it?s very destructive and it?s inflationary and it?s going to cause a job loss across this country like you?re not going to believe."

American Apparel sets sites east after LA becomes unaffordable

The privately held retailer is making plans to possibly transition its manufacturing from Los Angeles to North Carolina or Tennessee, where the minimum wage is $7.25, sources close to the company told the Post. The minimum wage will rise to $15 in California by 2020.

Yes, what we need is a lower minimum wage so we can have more low paid fast food workers and dollar menu selections of fast food crap.

Just hope automation takes place. This is another way where the public is misguided to think it will be better. In reality, business will eliminate the job and/or force people to do more things.

They might not automated.  They might just have the same person rushing out from cleaning the bathroom to wrap your burger.

It's a lot like doping in sports. You can still beat it, it's just a much steeper hill.

Low wages are the doping empowering and making the disposable mass consumption lifestyle possible.

Saw a kiosk at a McDonalds in Palm Desert last weekend. People had the option to use the counter, which was the more widely chosen route.

So I went to multiple different Walmart stores, and I have noticed that there are many self check out stands. (For example, just picture a rectangle and each side of the rectangle there are self checkout stands)

I tried the self order touch screen at Mc Donald's. It was simple to use. Choose your order, pay, and a receipt comes out. (The whole process took me less than two minutes)

Told you folks this would happen in my earlier post  :-X
Wendy's will lay off all cashier's...will move to automated at all locations

Whoever signed that law in should've known this would happen.  It was sold as a way to provide enough income for those minimum wage workers, but in reality it's going to take away their previous jobs.  I think it was a cop out by the government to provide less welfare but now they will be in a tough spot again.  Wonder if they will reverse the change and find a compromise at $12/hr or something.

Hillary Clinton?s minimum-wage hike: Insanity

They say the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results.
That seems to be the definition of the left?s argument with the minimum wage. The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco wrote in its economic notes last year: ?The overall body of recent evidence suggests that the most credible conclusion is a higher minimum wage results in some job loss for the least-skilled workers ? with possibly larger adverse effects than earlier research suggested.?
The progressive fight for $15 mandatory minimum wage continues. Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has embraced the policy and is advocating for a national wage hike.
So let?s look at the real-world results of Seattle.
The City of Seattle passed its $15 minimum-wage ordinance in June 2014, and according to a study completed by the University of Washington on the bill?s economic effects, lower-skilled jobs seem to be vanishing ? in just one year.
?Although the ordinance appears to have boosted wages for the city?s lowest-paid workers, the benefits of the increase may have been partly offset by fewer hours worked per person and slightly less overall employment,? the researchers found.

You don?t say. The city hasn?t even reached $15 yet ? it?s minimum wage was boosted to $11 last year, is set to hike to $13 in January and will eventually reach $15 by 2021 for all businesses.
Yes, Seattle?s lowest-paid workers saw a boost in their paychecks, but only 25 percent of those observed income gains ? a few dollars a week ? that can be attributed to the higher wage, the study found. It was with much thanks to a strong economy, the authors said, where some wage increases would?ve happened regardless of the ordinance.
Still, even with this economic boom, Seattle?s lowest-wage earners still showed signs of ?lagging behind? regional trends, the report said.
The employment rate was down about 1 percentage point for workers, who earned less than $11 before the ordinance, and their average hours declined, the study showed. In addition, the proportion of them who switched jobs in the city to elsewhere, increased by 2 to 3 percent, researchers found.
So there you have it. Progressive policies working out exactly the way economists and conservatives have prescribed.

Didn't Trump also mention to increase the minimum wage?

To be fair he is wishy washy.

"There doesn't have to be," Trump said. "I would leave it and raise it somewhat. You need to help people. I know it's not very Republican to say."
"Ten bucks?" O'Reilly asked.
"I would say 10. I would say 10," Trump agreed. "But with the understanding that somebody like me is going to bring back jobs. I don't want people to be in that $10 category for very long. But the thing is, Bill, let the states make the deal."
Asked to clarify his position at a press conference on Wednesday morning in Doral, Florida, Trump said once again that the federal minimum wage should be raised to "at least $10" but that "states should really call the shots."
