Pres. Bone spurs canceled a planned visit Saturday to a cemetery for Americans killed in World War I, the White House citing ?bad weather?  that grounded his helicopter.  Well, macron and merkel didn?t have that problem

I think one reason for Trump's popularity with American men is how he recalls the deeply rooted myth of the Wild West hero, the lone "manly man" who sweeps into town and boldly does what needs to be done so long as it isn't raining ...

Macron and Merkel are just sore that the 70 year free ride they enjoyed at the expense of American taxpayer appears to be coming to an and.

I guess disrespecting fallen heroes is perfectly fine for you as long as he is ?owning the libs ?

And to think Obama was harassed by Fox News for weeks because he dared to salute while he had a coffee cup in his hand

What Trump doesn?t understand is that showering money on the defense contractors doesn?t mean that he respects or supports what our troops do.

Trump shows what he really thinks of the troops by using them as political props.  Right now , a whole bunch of them are mired in misery near the southern border but the flag waving cult members hardly seem to care , now that midterms are over

I don't usually hop on the Trump hate train for non-policy related stuff, but not showing up to that memorial due to rain is pretty friggin weak.

CNN ? Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema will win Arizona's US Senate race, defeating Republican Rep. Martha McSally and flipping a seat that had been in GOP hands for 24 years

It is finally sinking in , after a week , what a big realignment this election was for dems . White college voters broke for dems 53 / 45. This is nothing short of an earthquake for gop .

Now I wonder if the mainstream media (that easily gets played by the gop who is constantly trying to ?work the refs?)  will start featuring stories on suburban moms that voted blue instead of story number 10,000 from a small town diner full of old age trump voters ... also known as the ?real Americans? .

Walter's lead is down to 1k while Young Kim's lead is down tonless than 2k.  Dems prime to take about 38 seats in the house and only lose 2 senate seats in a historically bad map.  +6.1 on the popular vote.

Dems take back supermajority in CA and Prop 6 goes down in flames.

Where are the posters who said that the Blue wave would not happrn?

Good , in depth article w data

This is what I have been saying about this tax cut for the entire year . This is a temporary sugar high and a sop to businesses and real estate people (hence the strong support on this forum ) but does little  to improve the overall ?beta? of growth trajectory .

Trump?s Tax Cut Was Supposed to Change Corporate Behavior. Here?s What Happened.

Nearly a year after the tax cut, economic growth has accelerated. Wage growth has not. Companies are buying back stock and business investment is a mixed bag

NVM looks like a logistics issue. Shut down Paris, or cancel visit.https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...cret-service-cemetery-trip-france/1986252002/

Pretty disappointed in the way this was reported.

That's not how it works!  Secret Service does not tell the president what to do.  President tells them where he is going and they make it happen.

The statement said nothing about a possible motorcade. Trump, who traveled to Paris for a series of events commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, spent Saturday afternoon out of the public eye.

Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for the National Security Council for President Barack Obama, called Trump's second-guessing of the Secret Service "a lie."

The Secret Service "advises on security but the President makes the final call," Vietor said on Twitter. "He chose to skip the memorial."
https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-brie...amas-unpredictability-stresses-secret-service

Nelson says that on presidential trips outside of Washington, the traveling Secret Service team includes dedicated agents who can fan out and help secure areas ahead of the president at a moment?s notice. He also said that in addition to ?overt assets? like the agents traveling next to the president, ?usually there?s a lot of covert? resources helping to protect him.

And after the president arrives at a restaurant or store, it?s fairly easy for agents to control the flow of patrons in and out ? which decreases the risk posed by selfies with the president lighting up Twitter.

?We?ve been doing unscheduled movement since we started protecting the president in 1901,? Nelson said. ?We?ve done them in war zones like Iraq and Afghanistan. We know what we?re doing.?

The Secret Service was reluctant to discuss if they had had discussions with the president?s staff about the frequency of the president?s ?off the record trips,? which are happening with greater frequency as the midterm elections approach.

All the other leaders made it....it's not like they did not have security details.  General Kelly also went there in a car...pretty sure he had Secret Service protection.  It's a ridiculous excuse.  Trump blaming everyone else again.

Weird how these things always happen with district with large minority voters...no power cords...inoperative voting machines...insufficient number of voting machines.

A federal judge on Tuesday found that Gwinnett County violated the Civil Rights Act in its handling of absentee ballots during last week's midterm elections, a ruling that will likely delay the overall vote tally in the state's tight gubernatorial race.

U.S. District Judge Leigh Martin May wrote in a 17-page order that the county was found to be acting in violation of the Civil Rights Act with its rejection of absentee ballots solely on the basis of an omitted or incorrect birth year.

Presidential motorcade is a whole other animal than other world leaders, or General Kelly,  not really comparable.

Sure he could have gone ahead with it, but there is a logistics cost associated with that.

My problem is it was reported as he didn't want to stand in the rain, when in reality he didn't want to do a major motorcade through Paris.  Not saying that was the right call, but I am disappointed how it was reported that he didn't like rain.

There are always logistical issues...Trump does not miss any political rallies or golf appointment due to logistics.  Logistics were not a problem the next day when he went to a different event.

You think that Germany, UK, or France take protecting their leaders any less seriously than the United States?  Come on.

He chose not to go...why he didn't go is speculation but don't blame the secret service.

When did I argue that Germany, UK, and France don?t take their leaders seriously? Strawman, of course they do. Doesn?t change the fact a presidential motorcade is so much larger and different than a German or UK leader being moved it is not even comparable. See:http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/24839/dont-be-so-quick-to-blame-trumps-no-show-at-cemetery-on-the-president-himself.

He canceled because of logistical issues due to weather, jumping on him because he ?doesn?t like rain? is a lazy criticism, and cheapens actual criticisms that are being made on his policy. Fox News can and does point at stuff like this and say ?look at all the bs the liberals make up!? instead of addressing the real issues like healthcare funding, global warming,  and immigration.

Wait...how is the US Motorcade bigger than any other motorcades?  Compare the motorcades at Hamburg...pretty much identical except for the car brands.

One of Merkel's Motorcade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv6TWn5o3zc

Again...no logistical problems the next day or the day before.

It's not like US Presidents have not gone to Paris before or that the motorcade has not gone through Paris.  Motorcades go through LA and OC all the time...city doesn't grind to a halt.

Fox News doesn't deal with reality nor do Trump supporters...to pull punches because of them is silly.

From that article: ?Some will quickly point out that President Macron and Chancellor Merkel attended the ceremony, but Trump didn't. Moving either of those dignitaries is not the same as moving the President of The United States. Neither is moving White House Chief Of Staff John Kelly or Chairman Joint Chief's Of Staff General Joseph Dunford, both of which attended the ceremony. The massive footprint of the security and administrative apparatus that follows the American President around dwarfs anything else like it on the planet, much of which isn't even visible to the casual onlooker. We can argue the merits of the tactics and procedures that go into these operations, but as it sits today, this is how the POTUS moves about and Trump is no different than Obama in this regard. ?

I?m not saying to pull punches, i?m saying don?t punch things that don?t deserve to be punched.

It?s like the school bully is terrorizing the school, and you punch him, great look,  but when you also wander into the special  ed class and punch the kid with Down syndrome suddenly not so great look

i would liken it to punching stephen hawking...remember, our president is a very stable genius  :)

I read the article...author provided absolutely no basis for that statement and he also stated that most of the protection is unseen.  Secret service planned this trip for a long time and they knew about the weather.  They would have had plans and contingencies.  Only reason why Trump didn't go is because he did not want to.

I disagree regarding the "punching".  The optics of the whole things is terrible and there is just no good explanation.  Ask how the veterans and military folks how they see it.

Who cares what Merkel, Macron, and the Liberals think. Whatever Trump does, they will be outraged. I say just tune them out like with noise cancelling headphones and continue full speed ahead!
