Kinda bummed out after looking at the construction progress this weekend.  Found out that some of my lights j-boxes were put in a wrong location compared to my diagram.  There wasn't much room to get them wrong so it's gonna look bad if left that way, AND the dry wall is up.

Are drywall patch-ups bad news if they have to fix that?

They gave you a diagram of where all your electrical is suppose to go?  When did you receive this diagram?

Do they give you a diagram with all the measurements of your house?  Basically a copy  of the blue print?

i remember they wouldnt let me have a copy of the electrical plan blueprint (the drawings are copyrighted) when they showed me... sometime arnd phase 1 or phase 2... but when they looked away, i took a picture of it with my phone =_=... was the picture of the model home though (not my specific unit/lot)... it has been helpful cause my interior decorator is using the images to help plan out and accentuate furniture placement

sorry to hear they messed up on ur jboxs... everything went smoothly for me, cept for 1 addon cfi outlet in the bathroom... but it was only 2-3 inches too far off from where i wanted it located, not too big of a deal for me cause it wasnt too obvious

for sure... from what ive read online, im definitely pretty lucky that toilet outlet was the biggest thing... all my other electrical outlets, recessed lights, and hanging light prewires were aligned properly... if they were misaligned man id be pissed...

I'm definitely apprehensive about this problem.  To be fair things have been going pretty smoothly and they say that the wheels are in motion to do something about it.  Hopefully things turn out fine and that will be that.

Do we need to check if the stardard/upgrade recessed lights are aligned properly? I didn't check that. I only checked if they are there.
By the way, how do you align toilet outlet?

my standard lights were aligned, no issues there... if u didnt check the first time, i remember someone else mentioned u can always drop by the sales office and have a sales do a casual walk to ur unit/lot to see... so u could definitely give that a shot

i just wanted it on the side a little so its easy to plug/unplug one of those butt washer things haha... on the options agreement i specifically told them to add in the notes "1ft above the floor and 5''' from the center of the toilet"... for one of the upstairs bathrooms they actually added some wood blocks so that they could get it spot on... in another upstairs bathroom there was a wood pillar right next to it so it was convenient (slightly off but by not too much)... its just wierd how in the first floor one they could have added blocks but they didnt so end result was significantly off... but its ok, not that big of a deal cause its not that obvious...

That might be the most disturbing thing I've ever read on these boards...
Also had the same issue as Irvine_Dreamer...originally wanted the the ceiling fan between two cans, but figured that might limit the size of fan we could install later without creating a "strobe" effect.  The blueprints on the can lights can be a little misleading...based on them it would have seemed that adding the jbox between the two cans would have been centered to the living space (maricopa plan 1 where outside edge of living room double as walkway), but after going through the walkway, replacing the center can (3x3 setup) was clearly the proper locations.  Funny that the IP design consultant didn't know the proper location for it, but electrician quickly caught it and asked for clarification before going forward.  Just wish they would have given us the credit for the can that they didn't use.

Aren't you suppose to put j-box in place of can light if it overlaps?
That's what I did for the ceiling fan mount at great room.
Removed the center can light and installed fan mount.
I was not given any credit for that can light though.  >:(

Maybe j-box is the wrong term, but there is a little box for the pendant light wiring , that box is screwed to a block screwed to the framing.

I wasn't replacing can lights with pendant lights, it seemed to me they would be fine near each other.

Good news, the problem with the lights will be corrected and the remedy is underway.

I'm just glad I kept an eye on things or that would have been a final walk thru surprise  ???

hahaha i used to be grossed out too... i was a non-believer and i was like wtf are these for, they are the dumbest thing... n then one of my friends in asia had it in all their bathrooms and the washer had a seat warmer, used warm water, n had a blow dryer... OH MY GOODNESS... i have been a believer ever since =_=... no shame

You'd think paying some WTF prices on most upgrades would at least get you some decent service? Nope. Working with the IP Design Center is like pulling teeth. I will share my horrible story later after everything settles down. For now, I encourage everyone to do their homework, not rely on your so-called designer (which is basically a robot taking your orders) and minimize your spending at the Order Design Center as most things cost less outside.

now we have to people leaving us hanging, first Fireblade never finished up his foreclosure story (maybe someone should send him a PM) - now michigan.

yall should share your stories about IP/design center so others don't fall into the same traps.  unless of course you take pleasure in not being the only ones to get screwed, in which case, that is just pure evil.

I will say though that thanks to the comments received after starting this thread, we've had a fairly smooth process so far.  Really planned out well what we wanted as far as upgrades, and actually came in a bit under budget (including potential flooring upgrades that will be done down the line after closing).  Also maybe lucked out in the "designer" we got from IP, she was fairly knowledgable and had decent taste, but more importantly, I don't feel as if she tried to upsell or push for costly upgrades that we didn't need.  Just one design appointment left but we've pretty much decided that we are done with what we want to get through the design center, meaning time to relax and breath for a minute.  So far so good, but of course there is a lot of time between now and build-out/closing so I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities for IP to F this up.

i am wondering how many of you have visited the construction site of IP.

i can see lots of trash around. mostly from the food workers eat. are they required to use the trash can ? or someone will clean them up every few days? it's kind of disgusting.
I saw crows having a feast.

some of u think IP know what they are doing because they have build tons of the same home b4 yrs, right? not really!
my advice is be an informative buyer and monitor the building process and speak up.
have u thought they would put insulation up b4 they sheathing the outside? and how about leave the insulation in the rain.  >:(
