I wouldn't mind DeMar but again, not a 3pt shooter... but he can be another ball handler/facilitator and scoring threat.

Championships are actually built with strong midrange game in the last 20+ years. The exception is Curry/Klay Warriors.

I think the game changed once Curry/Klay showed that championships can be won by teams that rely on the 3. So much so that Houston tried to mimic it. Now you have people pulling up from the logo at times casually (Trae, Curry, Lillard, etc).

3 > 2 so if ones team can shoot it effectively and defend, you have a great chance of winning it all. Thing is, not a lot of teams have shooters that are consistently hitting them to be a threat.

My point still stands, show me any championship team in the last 20 years except the Warriors that won it all from a strong 3 point game. The mid-range is underrated because Curry/Klay changed the game. But the regular season is not playoffs where teams play tighter defenses and run more schemes. Even the 73 win Warriors lost.

Alex Caruso got an offer from the Bulls. Is this the end for him being with the Lakers? Sad to see Alex go.

I don't know why we didn't match that offer. It's just the owners being cheap and not wanting to pay luxury tax. Every advanced analytics stat shows how valuable he is on defense. He's worth the $10M.

I am also a fan of spending other people?s money :-)

Yeah I liked Caruso. He was a good fit.

In other news Schroeder's market has shrunk to almost nothing. All the teams that could have offered him $20/m have spent their money. I don't mind paying him $10M per year to backup Westbrook just like good ol' OKC days.

I don?t think so. Teams are now averaging 10+ 3s per game in the finals since 2014 onwards. Below are the teams that won championships with 3s being a big part of their success in winning:
Spurs ( averaged 11 3s per game in finals)
Warriors
Raptors (averaged 12 3s per game in finals)
Lakers  (averaged 14 3s per game in finals)
Bucks ( averaged 11 3s per game in finals)

Looks like the trend really started when the heat won in 2013 averaging 9 3s per game in the finals. Spurs came in right after the next year to average 11. Curry/Klay just perfected it,  but the trend really started early in 2012-2013.

For reference, averaging 10+ 3s as an average in a series is definitely a lot higher than the days with Shaq/Kobe.

But the way you're looking at it isn't proving or disproving my point. I'm not denying the importance of the 3. I'm saying that all the teams that won it all largely had a very strong midrange game.

Last year Lakers starting center Drummond signs with 76ers.

Swap for Howard basically and get him for cheaper. I think Howard did more of what the Lakers needed anyways.
