Lakers News

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I like the fight in the Lakers! Harden is a punk. He's one of the best offensive players in the league, and it's just shameful how the league rewards him for jumping into guys to get to the free-throw line.

I think BI was just over it by that last call when Harden was rewarded yet again, for putting his shoulder into BI and knocking him on his ass. BI was heading toward the ref to ask, "What the hell are you seeing?" In BI's way was Harden bitching about the no continuation call. "Get the f^%$ out of here." That's what that push was.

Gonna be fun watching the Rockets struggling to score 125 every game just to compete. There are some horrific defenders on that team.

That BI frustration was definitely the result of an accumulation of typical Harden/CP3 calls going against the Lakers and BI. There were two calls against BI in the first half where he's tracking Harden to the rim, in good defensive position. Harden leans in with his shoulder to create space, shoots, and falls down like he was punched in the face. Whistle. Foul called on BI.

Harden actually failed to fool the refs in Q2 with a leg kick out on one of his three attempts. Shocking. He didn't just kick out his leg to create contact, but also fell down having not even been touched.

CP3 got one of those cheap charge calls in the first half on BI too. Coming down the court on offense, BI's not running very hard, but not thinking about the shady actor in front of him. CP3 stops in his tracks, and BI runs into him. Of course, like CP3 and Harden do, CP3 flew down like he was punched in the face. BI called for charge. Such a punk play.

The first half ended with CP3 falling down on a rebound getting two free throws having fooled the refs. There was very little contact, if any, but there was a big fall. Classic CP3 and Harden.

It is absolutely frustrating to play against guys like this. The refs must be forced to review these games and stop rewarding the acting. If they don't, the players will enforce the rules, which will predictably result in fights.

Full disclosure - BI coming in with that haymaker was a punk move too. Shows how pissed he was, but still, a really bad look and decision.

Playoff level basketball in game two! Love it.

Rusillo gets it. If the league is gonna reward the CP3 & Harden bull shit, then the players will enforce the rules.

Damn, sure looks like he spat. What?s the suspension time for that? What?s the Laker locker room like after this? Paul is one of Bron?s best friends. Crazy.

Is that seasonal?

I don?t see it. I saw another one at they speculated that the spit came from Melo.

I didn?t see any spit, looks like cp3 faked it, like how he sometimes fake a flop.  #spitgate
Exciting atmosphere given this is just game 2 of regular season

In that link, scroll to the second video. He spat.

Luke Walton needs to show some leadership in media sessions before tomorrow's game. This is what I'd say:

"Look, if the NBA wants to reward the offensive players initiating contact for the sole purpose of drawing a foul, before they fall to the ground pretending to be victims of a violent foul, then that's the way it is. However, we will not stand for it, and neither should any of the other teams. It will inevitably lead to players taking justice into their own hands. So Adam Silver, what are you gonna do to rectify this today? NBPA, what are you gonna do about this today? This has to be fixed today."

in the end nothing will be done.  the nba loves this kind of media attention and it's the reason these guys got such minuscule suspensions.  the rematch on december 13th is going to be hyped like the next heavyweight title match.

Did you read my recent post? The nba just made suspensions.

On the 2nd video it just looks like Rondo is reacting to the trash talking CP3 is doing.

Probably like:

CP3: You?re just riding my boy LBJ?s coat strings...
Rondo: Pffft... don?t need strings I got a ring.

The pfft part is where he spit but didn?t even look like it got close to his face.

It?s a sell job by CP3.

:)

?The penalty was costliest to Paul, who was fined a total of $491,782. Paul is president of the NBA Players? Association. He began serving his suspension Sunday night and wasn?t at the arena when the Rockets lost to the Clippers, 115-112. Rondo will be docked a total of $186,207, while Ingram?s total is $158,816.

?It?s just not equitable,? he said. ?If you wanted to suspend him one [game] I get it, just to make a statement. Then you?re talking monetarily, he?s paying three times more than the other guys are paying for missing games? That doesn?t seem to be right.?

My comment: Chris Paul getting fined almost $500k is a small amount? The total amount of fines totaling aproxinately $837k.

The amount is small compared to what they make annually.

Additionally, I don't agree with D'Antoni, if CP3 is making 3 times more than the other players, then he should be 3 times more responsible and learn to hold back, especially as president of the players union.

Regardless of #spitgate, I think CP3 escalated first by poking Rondo in the eye, that's not right and probably just as physically dangerous as throwing a punch.

And if they really want to curb this time of behavior, longer suspensions should be handed out.

It?s easy to say when it?s not your money. (toss up)

I?m not sure if someone already mentioned it. How about the play when the Houston player clothes line Josh Hart?s neck area? The rockets player only got a flagrant 1.

Yep. I watched the whole game again Saturday morning, having missed a lot of it Friday night due to the Dodger game. The league needs to do this too. Watch every single offense-initiated contact by CP3 and Harden and the flopping. Watch every call going against the defender. Watch the frustration grow until Hart is clothes-lined and then BI is knocked on his ass flying backward from a Harden shoulder.

So, longer suspensions help deter the fighting, but so would better officiating of offense-initiated contact.
