iPhone 7

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I wonder why leasing would be better for carriers, a family of iPhone 6s Plus upgrades can cost them $2400+ upfront cost for the phones and slowly recouperate that cost over 2 years with no interest and no down?

The data is mostly from streaming YouTube kids for my daughter while we are in the car

Same here, most of our 10-15gb/month is eaten up with Netflix kids and Amazon music stream for me.

Haven't read the details on this new leasing program, are you still on the hook for the remaining amount if you switch carriers and/or cancel?

Traditionally carriers want people to upgrade to their data plans since the margins are high and data plan is higher

Highly competitive so they've assume the risk of paying etf and let people pay a lower lease amount to snag a sale

This is specifically for AT&T but on their new plans, if you do a 2-year contract they charge you a monthly line fee, if you use their Next payment plans (or bring your own device), it saves you up to $25/mo. So you are actually paying up to $600 ($25x24) for that phone over 2 years.

And for AT&T, it's not really a lease, it's just 0 interest payments as you own the phone after the allotted time (30 months is the smallest I think).

For TMo, I think they both installment and lease, where the lease you have a buyout at the end but have benefits like short upgrade times (Sprint has something like that too).

I have no idea what VZW's plans are... except they are usually the most expensive.

TMo's buyout deal at month 18 works out to a $100+ discount on the phone.

The improved LTE coverage on the 6s vs. the 6 with TMo is real. It's finally at parity with AT&T and Verizon, but at a much steeper discount.

We used to have grandfathered unlimited data on AT&T but it was cheaper to sign up for a mobile share plan.

You should of kept the unlimited plan.
Why? We've never gone over 5GB per phone and don't see us doing that in the near future. Comparatively, for 3 lines we were paying $30 per phone for unlimited data plus another $70 for calls/text. Now it's $145 ($100 for the 15gb shared and $15 for each line) and we get mobile hotspot on all our phones.

For us, we got more features for less because our old grandfathered plans also had limited text and minutes (when there were rollover minutes).

My wife barely uses 1GB/mo and our kids aren't watching as much video in the car as qwerdata's.

And I switched my $80 unlimited data on my TMo phone to a $60 3GB data plan because on a phone that only I use (not my kids), I don't even get near 2GB a month. With Data Stash which rolls over for a year unlike AT&T, I should be okay.

That $20/mo buys me more qwergers.

Just got my iPhone 6s Plus, not bad, almost dropped it a few times already.  Luckily I don't do skinny jeans, not sure how that would work with the bigger phone.

What do you think of the 3D Touch and improved cameras? My kids love the Live Photo feature.

Just to throw in my Android love out there...many of the "new" features on the iphone 6s have been on Android phones, some for quite a few years.  I had the 3D touch feature and the motion wallpaper since my S4 and didn't really care for it.

AirView is not the same as 3D touch, you don't get haptic feedback from AirView and it's not pressure sensitive... it's touch or don't touch. The concept might seem similar but totally different in hardware and functionality.

Androids probably won't get pressure sensitive touch until 2016:

The biggest thing going for the S is the speed. The 6 was already one of the fastest phones out there despite having less system RAM but the 6S beats every Android phone away on almost every performance test:

The funny thing is the A9 processor in the 6s is made by Samsung (and TMSC).

However, I still like my trusty Samsung Galaxy Note II. It's over 3 years old but still hangs in there. I don't like the iPhone-cloned sealed build of the Note 5 (sorry SGIP!) and the Note 4 is still pretty expensive (not sure why it hasn't been price reduced now that the 5 is out).

Yeah but a lot of their features never worked as well.

A little over a week with the new iPhone brick.

So far liked:

1).  Speed/processor power
2).  Screen size (decrease tablet use)
3).  Battery lasts (compared to 5s)

Disliked:

1).  Force touch/3D whatever crap (repeatedly press links)
2).  Carpal tunnel from holding the brick in a no fall death grip
3).  The repositioned close button from top to side
