It's amazing how people can live in a home for 40+ years and not update a thing! But I guess it paid off for the family of these owners as this home is in escrow. Maybe it's not so much the fancy upgrades that account for a home's value, but rather the neighborhood and upkeep of the property. A classic style will always be in demand I suppose.

This one from today's <a href="http://www.redfin.com/CA/Irvine/15-Orangetip-92604/home/5957526?src=blg_irvine&utm_source=irvinehousingblog&utm_medium=blog&utm_nooverride=1">featured property</a>...

Nice job Google for snapping the pic of this lady gardening (or puking). You make the call...

I saw this home featured on a TV show some time back. It's an ugly son-of-a-gun. I guess they think the view justifies the price.

I love the West Floral Park House, you are right, neighborhood and style will get you there. I love the one story ranch houses. This one almost has a Palm Springs feel to it. Better than much of the Pergraniteel we get these days.

<img src="http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb27/evalseraphim/Tudorfacade.jpg" alt="" />

The interior . . . Oh, the interior . . . These people really did want to live in a castle in Europe. The decor is Tudor Disneyland. I can't even begin to comprehend the kitchen cabinets. You really have to see it for yourself. Given the inside, I don't understand why there isn't a replica of the Matterhorn in the yard.</blockquote>

This house is off the market?!?!?! I'll admit to driving up to the gate to get a better look and checking the status of this one from time to time.

I know they dropped the price significantly at some point. Frankly, I think Trooper gave in and got her trees.

<strong>But hey, we are only asking 5x the tax role!</strong>

I cannot believe people are paying rent to live near that. I would be too scared.

I don't even think Ten would want to live on the street named <a href="http://www.ushomeauction.com/property.php?auctionID=H-051&itemID=50152&venueId=304&start=0">Bachelors Butto</a>.

You know, if a house is really, really unchanged since being built in the early 60s, it can be awesome. I live in a 1962 modernist house. It was redone several years ago, after a lot of neglect. If I had redone it, I would have made it closer to original. I redid the cabinets and they look like 1962. They don't look like they are 46 years old. They look like they were just installed, and it's still 1962.

"Updating" can often be a mess. Windows that don't match. Funky rooflines. Crappy unskilled labor redoing things. Pergo and granite.

The only thing the house is missing is a statue of David.
