IHB needs a resident bull on board

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program

I got the buttons now. I didn't have one of the options selected. All better now.

Here's a sand car, often found being pulled by the previously mentioned 909 ghettocruiser.

Those are some of the finer things in life. I had a 600 hp street legal (kind of) car until about 2 years ago. Nothing wrong with a little fun in life.

The only problem I have with most of those types of vehicles in OC is that little blonds drive them to Fashion Island on shopping excursions. The only time they are offroad is when they are in the driveway! They dont fit in the garage.

Same with the "brush guards" on Range Rovers. Not too many Rhinos or Elephants in Newport Beach but I see lots of range Rovers on Newport Blvd. set up for African Safaris.

Enjoy!!!!

I'm not down on motorsports. But the lifted truck thing is a little over the top these days. They aren't practical and they don't tow that well.

Spending 80-100K on a highly depreciable sand car to me is sheer lunacy. I can run three full years of sportsman motorsports classes for the price of the car, not counting the trailer and the spiffy tow rig. Or Jeepspeed for a decade!

Part of the fun in enthusiast automotive hobbies is doing some of the work yourself......and I own a 400 HP car myself. Not very practical, but it's not supposed to be.

No_Vaseline

What kind of 400hp car do you have?

Mine was a Superformance Cobra repro with a Ford Racing 460 crate motor stroked to 522 cu. in. We lowered the compression to 8:1 and ran well on pump gas. It was in a 2200 lb car with no techonology. Hi hp/torque and short wheelbase was very interesting.

Roll bar, fuel cell, 5 point belts got some interesting looks from the PD.

I opened tracked it for a couple of years at California Speedway, Las Vegas, and Willow Springs.

What is the Sportsman Motorsports class you mentioned?

Go fast - Be safe!

Mine's similar. I have a '65 Mustang w/ a roller cam 302, aluminum heads, and a T 5 that is currently in paint. Here's a picture from a month ago, but I haven't worked on it since then.

I got this car when I was 14. It now has the F/R brakes off a '03 Cobra, power steering, a colapseable steering column...........and needs to be painted and reassembled badly.

I'm going to run HPDE/DE's with it when I get it done. I think I can have it painted by Christmas.

I was thinking you could run a couple of seasons of that spec truck series that they ran at Irwindale, or a decade of NASA Spec E30 or CMC Challenge, or go kart racing for a long time. You could buy a used ZO6 and go autocross racing and buy a lot of tires for $80K.

We could, but I didn't HELOC my home to run a race program or buy sand toys or a 7 series BMW. Which was the point of this thing.

It's Liz's fault! She's never been to the 909 and doesn't get it!

Florida has its own 909. It's called The Panhandle, complete with a mucky waterfront known to locals as the Redneck Riviera.

Hey-I don't have any buttons...I guess that I am "button challenged".

That is a big project that you have. I ran Legends, Allison Legacy Cars, and TQ-Midgets for about 10 years as well as worked on a pit crew for a 410 Sprint car. I guess I could have had a good downpayment with the money spent on grass roots racing. The moral is that there are things in life other than real estate that will take your money.

We used to refer to 909 as "the people of the valley of the dirt and haze" when we were building tracts there.

Our construction trailers were vandelized and our guards were shot at by Homies who thought the lots we bought belonged to them.

In several instances the copper plumbing was stolen from the trenches prior to pouring the slabs.

I often traveled armed (Trooper- please ignore the last statement) since sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

Enjoy!!

I've been to Oildale, Santa Maria, and Ventrua, but I've never went to Manzanita or Perris.

I used to live about five miles from Kings Speedway.

NV

I raced Legends and TQ's at all three of those tracks. I did the Corey Kruseman Sprint Car School twice at Ventura.

Had some good nights and some bad nights. LOL

They had the 410 and Dirt Late Model championships at Manzanita last week end. Very fast 1/2 mile.
