You mean sell everything non-Musk?

Oxymorons abound... one of the biggest donators is US best selling EV maker... I notice your Tesla hate subsided.

not at all, I still donโ€™t own the stock and the only auto company I own is Ferrari๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ I have always been against subsidies, even those going to Tesla

And about those EV subsidies (includes many of the IRA clean energy mandates):

Notably, 78% of 2020 Trump voters support federal clean energy tax credits, and only 10% of 2020 Trump voters strongly oppose IRA policies. Thereโ€™s not an appetite among Republican base voters for Congress to repeal IRA provisions.

Go solar! Go EVs! Go clean energy!

What Trump's election to the White House could mean for EVs

  • President-elect Donald Trump's victory over Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to send the U.S. electric vehicle industry into a period of uncertainty.
  • Republicans, led by the former president, have largely condemned EVs, claiming they are being forced upon consumers and that they will ruin the U.S. automotive industry.
  • Trump has vowed to roll back or eliminate many vehicle emissions standards under the Environmental Protection Agency and incentives to promote production and adoption of EVs.

Bentley Motors further delays all-EV plan amid weak demand

ยท Bentley Motors is once again pushing back a target to exclusively offer all-electric vehicles, with plans to continue leaning into plug-in hybrid electric vehicles through at least 2035.

ยท The Volkswagen-owned carmaker initially said in 2020 that it planned to exclusively offer all-electric vehicles by the end of this decade.

Electric vehicle sales continue breaking records as automakers ramp production. Compared to other EV startups like Lucid (LCID) and VinFast (VFS), Rivian (RIVN) is outpacing the pack as registrations continue rising.

[...]

With Rivian outpacing the group, Wedbush analyst Dan Ives said he sees the company as โ€œone of the core EV players over the next decadeโ€ last month. He added, โ€œDemand looks strongโ€ and โ€œvisibility is improving into 2024.โ€

ยท The stock closed Thursday at $10.05, up 3.5%

They should be okay. Their cheaper models come out early 2026 so if can they make it until then.

Lucid is surprising me... they say they are funded until 2026 but I'm still on the fence about them.

Seems like all carmakers are in trouble though... Nissan just cut 9000 jobs and Audi just announced a 4500 job reduction.

Bentley building an EV for 2026:

Even ICE carmakers have to pause production:

As I mentioned before:

Final thoughts

Whether the shift away from ICE vehicles is coming from the bottom up โ€” i.e., consumer demands โ€” or the top down โ€” i.e., manufacturer offerings โ€” the trend is clear: peak ICE is behind us.

While EV growth has slowed, it doesnโ€™t change the reality that ICE vehicles are gradually losing favor. As hybrids continue to gain popularity and EV technology advances, the traditional gas-powered car may soon find itself taking a backseat in the automotive market.

Yes... let the market decide.

Doomed! :D

never said hybrids were doomed, just the total electrification was doomedโ€ฆICE will rule for the rest of our livesโ€ฆforced adoption is about to drive off a cliff๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿฆ„๐ŸŒˆ

โ€œThe market was never going to make a smooth transition to EVs, and we expected a slowdown in this shift as early adopters were satisfied,โ€ said Sam Fiorani, vice president of global vehicle forecasting at AutoForecast Solutions. โ€œMoving on to less tech-savvy buyers will slow the EV market share growth over the next few years.โ€

Smart businessmanโ€ฆbut I donโ€™t think Tesla benefits from as significant amount of government largesse as in the past like the clean air credits they used to get๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿฆ„๐ŸŒˆ

Losing EV subsidies will hurt Tesla competitors more. Higher chance to get approval for RoboTaxi as well.

SpaceX will continue to dominate.
He also gains favors to help move Boring Company and Neuralink forward

Tesla just makes a better product. For normal driving anywhere up and down the state of CA you can find a charger with no wait. CA fuel prices will rise as more refineries shut down. I wouldnโ€™t touch a non-Tesla EV. Iโ€™ll retain my CRV with snow tires for Mammoth Runs but no other reason to own an ICE vehicle here in OC other than pure love of ICE.

I disagree. Tesla has a better infrastructure for charging but there are superior EVs to Tesla's "value" models, the 3 and Y.

But that's the good thing about having more choices... we can get what suits us better.

Who has a better software team than Tesla? Hint: no one. That and charging infrastructure are what matters.

The software team at Tesla is not perfect. I remember the one update that buried all the oft used controls and it took them 6 months to reverse that out.

And a large number of drivers don't care about the software experience. Just give them Carplay or AndroidAuto and that's enough.

Question on EV tax credits.

Buyer A with a qualifying income purchases an EV in December 2024. The vehicle is eligible for any and all tax credits. If Buyer A sells the vehicle in January 2024 to Buyer 2, does Buyer A "lose" the tax credits because they are no longer the owner of the vehicle in 2025 and before their tax returns have been filed, or do they keep the credits since the car was purchased in the prior year and tax filing dates don't matter?
