I'm sorry, CZ.

My handle said it all that I am not anywhere near the 600K+

Zovall and IR must be doing something right to have posters in this salary range and I suggest pitching this site to Neiman Marcus and Saks to advertise some banner ads.

I think the $600+ just jumped to 10.

I put that in the $900- $450 each from the state+ I think it's $25 federal. So 475$ per person, per week.

covers all basics including food+utilities+home for us actually, and of course movies at Starplex:-)

A good cheap snack before Starplex movie is to get a roll at the bakery next door. If you buy just a big roll, it's pretty cheap, and you can split it if you like (which is what I do).

Welcome to the club CZ. I get so excited when my $950 check arrives, woohoo!

I just got asked to continue to contract/consult back through September, the 2nd such extension, so we're not dipping into savings yet. Won't be long for us though...

Hopefully there will be a Fed extension of unemployment benefits this Fall, otherwise all you get is those 26 weeks and for some, that is not nearly enough.

I'm not sure if you have any debts but if you don't you could really have a great time on $49,400 per year in other parts of the world or US. If it were me I'd go on a adventure.

There is an extension already- if you check on that small statement for your record with every check, you will know that date- they will add in more money if you run out automatically, as long as you are actively looking.

I can totally relate to that woohoo expression:-)

No debts at all, and a good amount of savings to use after run out of state benefits, and the severance package (his was very good- stretches 6+ months if used wisely). We are bound to a place because of the school though. I am already doing everything I wished I could, but didn't when I was employed. He still needs to get out of the doom and gloom. Probably a day out this weekend will help him through..

One must run out of regular benefits by mid Dec 2009 under current legislation to qualify for even the 1st federal extension. My regular UI claim for example, which would provide 26-weeks of coverage, pays until early 2010, hence, no extensions for me unless Congress and Obama change things...

With the way the government is throwing money around, I don't think there's any doubt they'll extend benefits some more. I can't imagine any politican who would speak up against extended benefits.

[quote author="irvine_home_owner" date=1250811077]How is the employment for everyone? I've read posts from several regulars that they've been laid off but I think they've found new jobs.

Interestingly enough, one was for banking industry and the other was for real estate, specializing in REOs.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hang in there, I'm pretty sure there will be a Fed extension of umemployment benefits as well as another Obama stimulus plan in fall.
