Enjoy it IPO. I just returned from an 8 week vacation my company gives the employees every 7 years. I hadn't had that much time off to do whatever I wanted since 9 yrs old. You will love every minute.</blockquote>

Intel? I always thought that was such a cool program.</blockquote>
It is an effective retention tool.</blockquote>
I knew that I should have become an engineer or pharmacist. *DUH*

[quote author="garrison" date=1250039048]44 vacation days a year....plus I average 17 days off a month. My industry has suffered huge economic setbacks and the resulting wage cuts have really hurt (I think Doctors are next - prepare accordingly). But our work rules, for the most part, are still intact and make it one of the best part time jobs in the world. Now if I could just get my consulting business going again...or land a plane on the Hudson and score a great book deal :)</blockquote>
Not copying me on that consulting business idea, are you??? :P

I have a family member just starting their residency in what is/was a highly paid specialty. I see dark clouds on the horizon for what they thought their earnings picture would look like once gainfully employed.

[quote author="bkshopr" date=1249436537]Economy turned sour since I did the last poll. TEN and SKEK left the forum so we lost 2 over 600k but since Mr. Young and his crews troll this site so do not be alarmed to see more over 600k this time around.</blockquote>

What's your definition of "make"?

I assume: Salary + Bonus + Commission + Stock Compensation + Bond income?

(AKA neglect capital gains/losses except maybe for stock grants vested that year)

Looks like not many AIG/Goldman Sach employees on here.

[quote author="bkshopr" date=1249948694]The average so far is about $215k for 119 polls.</blockquote>

What is the median? That's more important.

Edit: Also, 44 days a year vacation? :( I get 10. I guess if you count weekend word as negative, its closer to -10.

[quote author="IrvineRenter" date=1250765393]Do we really have 9 readers making over $600K per year. Wow!</blockquote>
I think we should have expanded the income to $500k-$749k, $749k-$999k, and $1m+. If there are two successful folks in the household with professional careers, I can see household income being over $600k/yr. I'm sure we probably have some business owners on here which make pretty good money as well.

Well for goodness sake! come out from the shadows and enlighten us with the key to that kind of paycheck. :)

Through my profession I've seen hundreds of family budgets. Most of our clientele are executives and small business owners. I rarely see $600k plus incomes. I also rarely see dual income couples that are top wage earners. Typically I find high income professionals tend to have spouses that fill a family support role.

Be involved on 10-12 real estate transactions in Newport Coast. haha $600k/yr is a huge number and it is difficult to earn that much a year. Maybe we have some PIMCO traders/executives on IHB.

You should have gone to a top tier law school and become a <a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2009/08/18/weil-gotshals-next-fee-request-in-lehman-452-million/">corporate BK attorney</a>. Or... you should start your own hedge fund and <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/16/business/16wall.html">use your market knowledge to make a few billion dollars in a year.</a> As for dual high income professionals, too bad <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2007/sep/09/features.woman5">Karen Finerman</a> isn't your client. Between her and her husband... that is a lot if f'ing money.

How is the employment for everyone? I've read posts from several regulars that they've been laid off but I think they've found new jobs.

For the first time this year, I've actually received postings from a tech source regarding open senior positions in my field (not the Chippendale dancer one).

Interestingly enough, one was for banking industry and the other was for real estate, specializing in REOs.

Hypothetical situation that we mentally readied ourselves for several days is here.

Laid off techie+ Laid off Architect = $900+ federal something every week
