<strong>

Would you stop with your conspiracy theories that people want to get you banned. </strong>

Not only did I point out people in this thread who want to get me banned, but they spoke up and reaffirmed my statements. Whether or not Eva or NoWowWay have the power to ban me or not is irrelevant.

Now, if you feel to demonstrate exactly why I feel you are unfit to be a moderator, feel free to deface my screen name in any way you see fit.</blockquote>

Whiner.

What is irrelevant is whether you think I am unfit to be a mod. Yet you still whine about it.

You are right. My opinion on the matter is irrelevant. The fact is that you have a very fragile ego and a genuine need to give yourself self reinforcement that you can't get from society. Whether it's the continual boasting you do about your prowess in every and any thing imaginable, or the sense of power you gain from being a moderator of a small internet forum makes no difference. I can't stop you from making a fool of yourself.

While I am sure this will fall on deaf ears, perhaps you would be better off (and feel better about yourself) if you channeled a fraction of the energy you expend on this forum telling everyone how great you are towards actually accomplishing something. Anything.

I know that you want to push my buttons, and I too push yours, but I am not going to let you this time.

I find it amazing how skek and EvaL can have a discussion about politics, but somehow they can do it in a way that neither are inflammatory, and continue the discussion in a respectful way when it is quite clear they come from the opposite political spectrum. For that, I have a tremendous respect, and it is not only me who has made it publicly clear that they are respected when they are on the opposite side of their opinion. I do push skek's buttons, but he sees it for what it is, and knows that I'm doing it for that purpose and he plays off of it. He is a good sport, and should be commended for it. I also will go against the grain, and I don't always agree with EvaL in this thread, and other threads. So, to think I am biased is apparently and obviously not true.

I don't want to ban you, and really I don't think other people do either, but I do think everyone here wishes you could make your points in the same way that skek and EvaL can make them without the inflammatory rhetoric. I will admit, I haven't kept myself to their standards of discussions, but at least I recognize it and wish to overcome that. I would hope that you would too.

I know that you do care what I say, and you do respect me, otherwise you wouldn't take the time to respond, over and over again. But you do care, just as I do, because I do respond to you. I'm not going to hide that fact that, while I don't agree with you, I do think your ideas and thoughts should be known, but with a less inflammatory tone. Don't you agree? Don't you see how skek and EvaL are on the opposite spectrum, but can have a reasonable and non-inflammatory discussion? At the book signing I had a discussion with skek about how I think you are a very smart guy, but how I wish you could make your points in a less inflammatory way. Go ahead, ask him privately or publicly, he will confirm this.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but instead of spending my time (which, I have spent too much time in the past) on the intarwebs, I was contributing to the economy. I had some great sushi, a few drinks, and a great desert. While I have loved the time that I have spent in the past on the intarwebs, I am thankful I have somthing more than just my knowledge to contribute to society. I just hope others will do the same.

[quote author="three sheets" date=1226726710] Jesus was incredibly apolitical. His followers urged him at every turn to assert himself politically. His response was unquestionably apathetic.</blockquote>

[quote author="EvaLSeraphim" date=1226804903]Not so much, in my opinion. That whole turning over the tables of the money changers in the Temple was most assuredly <em>not</em> the response of an apathetic person.</blockquote>

I didn't say he was apathetic in all walks of life. A Jewish temple in 1st century Rome was hardly a center of politics and Jesus' outrage had NOTHING to do with politics, it had everything to do with commercialism.

[quote author="EvaLSeraphim" date=1226808417][quote author="three sheets" date=1226739255]Why is it that we are so quick to point out the bad byproducts of religion and slow to give credit when religion produces progress?</blockquote>

Who is this "we," Kimosabe? When one refers to MLK, it is either as "The Reverend," or sometimes "Doctor King."

I think this is no different than T!m's and Trooper's point (I think it was T!m in this thread that posted the graph), about what the media focuses on. Oh, every now and then you get a story about an Interfaith conference, but those are not ratings drivers as much as (to use the examples above) suicide bombings and abortion clinic bombings. At the same time, if religion is a motivator / justifier of the Patriot Movement, I think that is something people ought to know. I think it is generally accepted that religion does accomplish some good things (e.g., feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, etc.), such that it may not need to be pointed out.</blockquote>

The issue being discussed is how much should religion influence legislative process. I can't count the number of the posts of people lamenting the lack of the separation of church and state. There have been numerous posts stating emphatically that religion should not influence voting. The point I made is fairly straight forward - religion has positively influenced the legislative process. To claim that religion should never be mixed with the legislative process ignores how important a role it has played i.e. civil rights. Frankly, your response proves my point. You relegated the positive byproducts religion to the private arena and did not consider whether religion has played a positive role in government.
