NSR,

I cleaned up the link. I hope you don't mind.

Even though I think that link was already posted it shows that Professor Case's and Shiller's studies are repeating again.

Lennar Numbers.

In the last nine months they have lost over a BILLION dollars before tax benefits. Their total write offs/write downs/walk away costs for the quarter in the WEST was $486mil and for the nine months it was over $610mil.

OMG I can't even comment on the debt level. The only good thing is they have seriously slashed backlog but their debt hasn't changed.

I'm going to bed. This is awful. OMG this is awful. I need to dig up JM Peters, Lusk and StanPac numbers from the past to see if this is really worse.

Note to self: Call city of Irvine for backup offers on Great Park land. Must beat Laing to the punch.

Existing home sales fell in August

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The pace of existing home sales fell sharply in August to a 5.5 million-unit annual rate while single-family home inventories grew to their highest level in 18 years, the National Association of Realtors said in a report on Tuesday.

Total existing home sales, which include condominiums, fell 4.3 percent in August from the 5.75 million adjusted annual rate in July. August's sales pace was the lowest since 5.36 million units in August 2002.

The inventory of homes for sale rose 0.4 percent to 4.58 million units at the end of August, a 10-month supply. That's the highest since a 9.8 months supply of single-family homes in May 1989. NAR began combining condo and single-family homes inventories in January 1999, which would mean this month is the highest supply on record.

Economists polled by Reuters were expecting home resales to fall to a 5.49 million-unit pace from the 5.75 million-unit rate initially reported for July.

Speaking just for myself, it wouldn't be about ROI.

Forgive me if the following comes off as sanctimonious because it's certainly not intended to be:

1. Anything that we can do to harness what's essentially free energy bombarded on us daily can do nothing but help the environment.

2. Anything that reduces dependence on fossil fuels reduces our dependence on the Middle East.

jw, I agree, but I do wonder on what market segment we'll see these PV rooftops. I'd bet money that we won't see them on smaller (<1500sq ft) product. The whole thing smacks of hybrid Hummers.

It takes three steps:

First, find a 28 x 20 graphic (or close enough as the software will crop and center it.)

Second, the graphic needs to be located at a stable web address. If you have a personal website, you can upload it there, or if you want to email me the image, I can upload it to IHB and give you the site address.

Third, you will need to modify your account settings and tell the software where to look for this graphic.

Ok click the account tab and click personal info. Then paste this link where it says icon http://img107.mytextgraphics.com/photolava/2007/09/25/gold-47ycir36g.png

If I find one that is better I will let you know.
