Will TUSD change the boundaries when the New High School in Tustin Legacy opens? Anyone have the specs for the new TUSD High School? Size, Population, Name? Thank you in advance!

Good luck with that.  TUSD doesn't even have that data. :)  And even if they did, it would likely change significantly before it's actually implemented.

All, My first post after researching and actively looking at new homes for over a year in Tustin Legacy/Irvine areas. Here is my view based on extensive research on new homes and meeting new builders;
Sheldon homes are more value than BP or BR for similar homes; lot size is bigger and yes unlike BP, PP, PS in Irvine, the SFR here are not zoned as Condo.
Pricing went up at Sheldon by over 50k from phase 1 to current phase 6 and may still be bargain compared to similar homes in Irvine BP/SG areas.
-Last week visit model 1 are below 800k and model 3 are 830k+
-Better bargain and less hype than Irvine new constructions miniature lot homes.
-Irvine BP could more toxic than Legacy with close proximity to cemetery and plumes etc.
-Legacy Hangers are historical and have a better view and than the sore sight of the OC largest Landfill in Irvine BP, PP, PS areas
-New Elem school opens in 2016 at Legacy and High school also planned for in Legacy in next couple of years.
-Other advantages of Legacy are close proximity to I5, 55, 405 and Metra and less traffic than BP.
Tustin Legacy is centrally located with more retail and development coming up than any of the new Irvine locations. Less commute times  :D
-These home at Legacy should appreciate and have more value than the Irvine BP, PS, SG similar size homes as the number of new homes in these new development Irvine areas outnumber with less benefits and facilities than Tustin Legacy.
:)

Thanks qwerty  ;)
Also water is from IRWD or similar city facility and will be as portable as other areas of Irvine if not better 8)

@srinids - Did they mention the "Type" of High school that they plan to build? Magnet, "Regular"? Thank you in advance...

The elementary, middle and high school will all be STEAM magnet schools. The A in steam is for art as in design, not music/arts.

:)

If the HS gets built and the elementry opens, then you got a good deal.

However, if it doesn't you are giving up the opportunity to buy a place in Irvine for "a little more or so" that has good schools.

Tustin Unified and city documents show the details about schools. see the article below; My views; schools with 10 / 10 is a misnomer and it is better development and exposure for kids to grow in regular schools with good ratings such as 6-9 rating instead as they will have better interaction and learning experience in a normal setting than a hyped setting. Schools with 10/10 will have mostly Asians and competition will be high and kids growing up and working in real world will have difficulty in adjusting and may fail in real life in college and work where they may not have a choice.

City of Tustin and TUSD Approve Plan for Tustin Legacy Schools
The City of Tustin and Tustin Unified School District have approved an $85 million plan to build a middle and high school, and begin the process of opening Heritage Elementary School for the 2016-17 school year.

I can't deny the centrality of Greenwood... but I also know how Columbus Square is (gasman and others other than qwerwood can attest to that).

So I'm not that sure you are getting that much of a discount compared to Irvine new or resale... and paying those kind of MRs at such a slow infrastructure pace is annoying.

Another thing to consider, if when the schools open, we don't know the ranking of the schools. Since it will be a magnet, I believe that means students within the district can attend if they qualify.

I just thought of this now, if a family is on a budget/first time buyer/just don't want to spend too much just buy in regular Tustin and they can attend the TL schools. (Right?)

Hope so. Even the current Tustin HS has good ratings. Tustin Legacy is not only a bit cheaper than Irvine BP , SG and other newer areas of Irvine but you actually can get a lot and some homes with a drive way ;) Coming from mid-west with large lots and massive homes, never imagined that most homes in the Irvine areas do not have drive ways or have zero lot lines  :(

Irvine is the epitome of packed homes.

There is currently a 3bd for sale in Irvine and >70k sq ft lot for over $2m if you want large lot size

High school too huh?  Will be interesting to see how a magnet school affects the "ratings" of the non-magnet schools in the district. So if Tustin Legacy pulls from the best and brightest, then that should in theory drag down beckman right?  I guess on the flip side, some parent zoned to beckman may welcome that. Less competition for all.

Tustin HS - 7 out of 10

I wonder if the STEAM curriculum at the new legacy schools will pull in potential Irvine buyers to Tustin legacy.

Are Tustin Legacy residents/students guaranteed admission into the new Tustin Legacy STEAM Magnet High School? Thank you in advance!
