Anybody here on the Lennar 20/20 solar plan?  Wondering what your monthly bill from the solar company is looking like.

So are you going to get solar?

lol.. not going to have two active threads on that.

The home already came with panels.  You had the choice to buy them or pay monthly (based on what it produces).  Just wondering what people are averaging.  I chose to not buy them.

So how much you pay a month to the solar company?

I just got on a month ago.. so haven't seen my bill.  They just charge me on what it produces - 20% (of what SCE would usually charge).. but I have no idea what that number will be.

Is there an online feature where you can monitor your energy use?

I overheard someone at the park in a Lennar house with a solar lease say their lease is $80 per month. They are generating more than they use so they have a $10 credit so they pay out of pocket $70. I was jealous.

Didn't you post that you "overheard" something at PP park before? #worksforNSA #listeningdevices

How does everyone feel about the American Heritage/Ranch Style homes @ PP? (compared to the normal spanish/monterey/italian/tuscan playbook)

Love any solar thread!

The other has become a phantom energy thread.

So eyephone how much kW did you generate via solar last month?

it's really nice.  I think spanish still has it's place but it's a nice change.  Actually, there are some spanish plans here and they don't look as nice as the American ones IMO.

So I clicked on July which was a partial month I think.. it said 254 Kilowatt-hours?

It's a matter of opinion, but they're not my favorite. The typical beige Spanish-style may be boring, but I'm curious to see how each style looks in 10 years. I fear peeling paint and dated looking colors for the American Heritage/Ranch Style homes.

I don't think peeling paint looks any worse than cracked or discolored stucco.

And drive through WestPark I to see outdated looking pink/peach homes.

As long as you maintain it, I think traditional American style/Ranch  homes look great, even as they age. Drive around certain older areas of Newport (newport harbor side, eastbluff), north tustin, and then drive around certain parts of orange, anaheim.  Difference is in the maintenance.  Personally, I like the traditional style, because its a little different from all the mediterranean/spanish/tuscan stucco out there.

What is that 254 kW/hr?  What it was produced or what you used?  Typical usage per household is about 10.1 kW/hr per day during summer and 9.2 kW/hr per day during winter period.  Whatever that 254kW/hr is, if it is what your solar panels produced, it is quite amazing.  If it is what you have used this month, that means you will likely hit Tier 4 pricing on your final bill.  SCE is a horrible company to deal with, prices are so outrageous.  It makes owning a Tesla more expensive than a Prius.  I think my rates are at $0.35 kW/hr in total.  The national average is $0.12 kw/hr.  So we are at triple what the national average is.

Produced in July

What is the size of your system?  Somewhere between 12kw to 14kw?  254kW/hr is pretty respectable number.  Just curious to know which type of inverter and solar modules you went with.

not exactly sure.. came with the house (I didn't buy it.. just paying for production).  10 panels.

In terms of monthly production it does help with your electricity bill.  That is a nice cushion before going over the pricing Tiers.

Just wondering what my solar bill is going to be.  Edison is less than $5 a month right now.

If I had to guess, your rate could be around $0.25 per kW/hr, I don't know if there are interconnection charges and other taxes that will be tacked on.  It may be $64.00, let me know when it comes in because I am very curious myself.
