Google's Street View - Creepy or Cool?

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I think the other 2 countries are North and South Korea. The wildlife is

extremely rich and thriving in the no man's zone between the 2.

There are ecologist types that are thinking about keeping people outta

there after they stop fighting, if ever.

The fact that the species are thriving there in Chernoble sez, nude

nothwithstanding, that humans are more destructive to wildlife than

high radiation and a nuclear meltdown.

However, we are top predator of this planet and removing us altogether

would probably also have devastating effects, same as when you remove

the top predator anywhere (wolves, say).

The authors of 1491 say that far from the forest primeval, what the

arriving settlors found here was a ecosystem from which the top

predator--native americans--had been removed, and some of what

they saw wasn't such a good thing, tho of course they had no particular

expections of what they were going to see, except that it would be only

somewhat like the countries they came from. They had been removed

because of illnesses caught from the first explorers and fur traders long

before the settlers arrived. Of course, some remained, a pale shadow

of the numbers that were there before, especially in middle America

and the Incan area.

There really are too many people right now.

It would be a good idea to have other reserve areas where people

would be verbotten.

That doesn't mean people are bad. Other species have population

booms and crashes too. And some species manage to manage their

numbers. As with everything else, popuation booms are fun, but crashes,

are otherwise known as the 4 horsemen of the Appocalypse. Not

fun at all, unless you are Attila the Hun or Ghengis Khan.

[quote author="ConsiderAgain" date=1207994426]I find KO's <a href="http://maps.google.com/help/maps/streetview/index_.html">Google Street View</a> a very helpful tool in touring different areas and getting a feel for a neighborhood I'm not familiar with. This is a real time and effort saver when combined with Redfin. Thanks KO.</blockquote>

Hey, no prob. Glad you found it useful... although I still kind of find it creepy.

AOL's A9 service did the same thing years back, but that usually was on major roads, not neighborhoods.

Alright. Somebody find a picture of this automobile...without the camera blacked out. I'll watch for it and make sure to speed ahead of it, pull over...and wave. Or better yet, I'll keep my IHB apparel in the car and stand there with my shirt on..and wave when the camera rolls by.

Come on all you intel people...find me the future path of this thing !

Trooper, the camera isn't blacked out, it simply can't take a picture of itself.

Eva ! LOLOLOLOL !

Nude...no crap. I'm asking if someone knows a link or something else, that has an actual picture of this thing. :shut:

These people sued Google over this saying the pictures devalued their property.

(manual thanks to Eva)

Eva - you're killing me! Your Brightwater in Huntington Beach reference is awesome.

My buddy is super pissed-off at Google. The street view of his house has him coming from his front door to his truck, which is backed into his driveway, and clear as day shows his whole body, with a clear face shot and his front license plate, along with his open garage door and a garage just FULL of goodies for someone to steal. Now that the whole world can see his safe, multiple tubs, elliptical machine, bicycles, etc. he is quite paranoid about his garage getting burglarized.

If you haven't used it before, you can click on the arrows to go up or down the street and then pan around, he is clearly shown in three different shots as the Googlemobile travels down his street.

Thanks, I'm here all . . . Oh wait, I'm going to bed soon. Never mind.

Actually, it sounds more like he's upset that everyone can learn he has so much clutter. I'm not sure why folks are upset about the license plates. You need to have a really good reason for DMV to divulge any info from a license plate number (unless you're law enforcement, but they are presumed to have good cause). I could also see him getting upset that they have a pic of him mouthing "WTF is that?!?" with a confused look on his face as he came out to his truck.

<em>"You need to have a really good reason for DMV to divulge any info from a license plate number".</em>

Hate to be the one to break it to all of you, but $20 and a DMV employee on the take is all you need. Not uncommon, unfortunately.

Yeah, here's a big piles of 'good reasons':

The only thing hard about getting plate info is standing in the line 8-/

Do you know how often this happens or how often Google will do this?

Ok, to make up for naivete, <a href="http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/eye-on-you/google-streetview-camera-car-fleet-set-to-invade-america-279222.php">here is a link something that might be the Google Street View cars.</a>
