Forum Member Ranks

Many of you have noticed the Forum ranks - Newbie, Member, Sr. Member, etc. This is simply a label that get assigned depending upon how many posts you have made.

acpme posted:<blockquote>can this be altered? having everyone that?s posted a min of 101 in the same group is boring.

i thought the post counts sidebar was really fun. how many people actually looked at that every so often to see how many posts you were from being included on the cool kids list? or if you were on the list, cared about your position. be honest now!

i think the post counts created a sense of community and motivation to participate. you could achieve the same thing if the post counts and associated membership titles can be customized with IHB-related ranks.

for example?

newbie: 30

living with parents: 30-100 (they need to have 30 posts before we grant an IHB title

house hunter: 100-250

knife catcher: 250-500

cash buyer: 500+

don bren: moderators </blockquote>

Yes, this can be altered. If you've got thoughts on what this should be, post your ideas here. If a lot of people like it, we'll make the change.

As much as I love the snark in naming the ranks as suggested, perhaps we might go with the "Circles of Hell" theme?

<blockquote>0-200 <member> is in the first Circle of Hell

201 - 400 <member> of the Second Circle of Hell</blockquote>

or something...

Can you change the spread between rankings?

Maybe something like

Level 1: 0- 50

Level 2: 51-150

Level 3: 151-250

Level 4: 251-500

level 5: 501-1000

Level 6: 1000+

I like the housing-related rankings, and I also vote for the spread of the rankings. It'll make me post more so I won't be a knife catcher anymore!

Speaking of posters, I noticed Lawyer Liz has skyrocketed to up over 1,100 posts! 1,161 posts in less than 6 months. That's 194 posts a month, 6.5 posts a day. Good work Liz.

How about something that would include quality of posts in the rankings.

My post count and ranking is extremely low due to the fact that I'm unable to post in the evenings or on weekends.

I always strive to bring it and devote 110% toward my posts but feel that my ranking suffers due to the low quantity/high quality factor.

You can do what <a href="http://www.irvinehousingblog.com/forums/member/309/">reason</a> does and just split your one good post into 4 or 5 individual posts placed one after the other in the same thread...

[quote author="Trooper" date=1207628511]How about:

Studio Apt.

1 Bd/1 Ba

2 Bd/2 Ba

Condo

Town House

Starter home

Move up buyer

Ocean View</blockquote>

thats not a bad concept -- using forms of housing. although around these parts, the relative ranking of each type of housing is really subjective. oceanview attached townhomes vs detached 1700 sq ft condos vs million dollar studio high rises?

what about:

homeless newbie

living with parents

IAC rental

condo

starter home

mcmansion

custom estate

Great catch Eva,

Not sure what exactly what came over me, or where that came from.

You?re right Eva, sadly my post does reek of neediness.

I need a hug right now.

No, don't chang....I like my SR Member.....make me sound so important...>SR member.

If we do housing range, I hitting bottom. I like being SR. :P

Sweet! I have always wanted a custom estate. IHB party at the graphcakes estate. Sorry, no homeless newbies allowed without a full background check.

Ten - If it were judged on quality, and that included spelling and grammer, then I would be homeless.

Graph-

Thanks for trying to make me feel better, but you know you?re posts are blingbling ice on the rist caliber.

Do you think you could spare some of that post count?

Eva?s right I?m getting desperate.

Almost to the point where the last call bell has rung, lights are about to come on, jump on a grenade desperate.
