?and Putin and King Salman who also are not in attendance. None of this will matter.

Leaders that aren't democratically elected don't need to virtue signal on climate to their constituents.

China's proven coal reserves will last about 30 years at current rate of consumption.  So assuming the consumption rate is sustained, by 2050 their coal power plants (if still operational) will be dependent on imports to run.

America actually has the largest proven coal reserves at this time, accounting for ~58% of world's total in economically recoverable coal (Russia has 2nd largest coal reserves but is costly to mine under permafrost).  As China-Australia relations worsen, China has reduced coal imports from AU and switched to importing American coal.  American coal exports to China has risen by 3,000%  (30 fold).  At current rate of growth China will likely displace India as top customer for American coal, benefitting Wyoming, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, etc.

Largest customer of American coal in order, India, China, Japan, Netherlands, Brazil, Canada, South Korea, Egypt, Dominican Republic, Ukraine, Germany, etc.  Companies like Warrior Met Coal (HCC) has received large increase in coal orders from China -- see their recent stock prices.  I don't see the Biden administration talking about setting targets to reduce coal exports.  As matter of fact it looks like America is reaping the benefits of China-AU spat by eating AU's lunch.

As for Russia, many believe that global warming benefits them in the long run:https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/12/16/magazine/russia-climate-migration-crisis.html

Follow the money?all the rest is talk?

Coal is making a comeback. Supplies are so scarce that Pa.?s and N.J.?s electric grid operator is worried

Coal, a pariah fuel for climate activists, has made a quiet comeback this year in the post-lockdown economic resurgence. Coal stockpiles at power plants are getting so low that the regional electric grid operator, PJM Interconnection, has taken steps to prevent a system collapse this winter similar to Texas earlier this year.

Energy drives everything. The only reliable, affordable and readily available source is and will, for a long time be, fossil fuel. Barring a significant advance in hydrogen, fission or battery technology, this is how it will be. No matter how much some may ?wish? it away.

"society is dependent on fossil fuels" is a basic premise of the climate change argument. pointing that out is not the gotcha you think it is.

?and it will be for the next 50 years no matter what the fools say they will do (or commit to) at COP?it?s all hot air?always is.

yes. climate change is a collective action problem.  amplified by the fact that everyone in charge will be dead before the consequences of today's actions (or inactions) will be felt. news at 11.

next you'll be telling me about this dilemma that prisoners run into when they're being interrogated.

Climate change, whether you believe it or not, is something that we humans will simply adapt to. There?s nothing we can do to change it. Climates got to climate.
