Do you read the blog?

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
There was a great blog post about Irvine REOs that I missed and I wonder how many of the forum members read the blog portion of the IHB.

(plus I miss roundcorners' polls)

I solely read the blog for at least 6 months prior to checking out the forum. I think I lurked on the forum for a few months before posting. I haven't visited the blog nearly as much since being sucked into the forum.

At first I only read the blog and read it every day for several months before I discovered the forums. Once I found the forums, like tmare, I got sucked into this black hole and went months without reading the blog. Recently I've started to feel a little guilty for not reading the blog anymore so I have made myself start reading it again. IR puts a lot of effort into writing it every day without skipping a beat, so the least we can do is set time aside to read it.

Move the drama to the blog and members will follow. I can write a racial commentary to stir-up some action. Zovall should invite some cross over members to post at the blog like a guest star to the Irvine Renter episode.

As far as the comments, I'll check out the roll of recent comments before venturing inside the post. If I don't see anything from AZDavid, I'll just move on --- there is probably nothing worth reading there anyway. If I see AZDavid's name popping up 10 times in the recent comments, I have to go check out what all the excitement is about.

Those not reading the blog have been missing some good ones - the last few weeks have been interesting and quite different.

The weekends now have some prime time posts.

Whatchya mean, Step? When you go to www.irvinehousingblog.com it automatically takes you to the blog section.

If you Google "irvine housing" or "irvine housing forum", one of the top links is directly to the forums page and not to the blog. That's how I ended up in the IHB forums... I think I was doing a search on Prado or some other new Irvine housing tract.

I'm just the opposite. As soon as I see AZDavid's comments, I stop reading.

I ended up in the forums on a google search. I was second guessing our decision to go into escrow and wanted to find information that supported that it was a good thing to do. The first thing I read about was the taco bell worker who bought 17 houses. For the first few months I didn't even realize that there any topics outside of real estate.

For kicks I wanted to pull up my first posts where you find me pleading for justification to catch the knife we now call home. It looks like I can only see a year of history and these would have been in early April '08. It's hard to believe how naive I was back then. If I had found the forums 60 days sooner than I had, we'd still be sitting in our 3/2 in CDM for $1,475/mo and my garden thread would be full of tips on growing tomatoes in containers. I don't even want to think what the bank account would have been.

I had a pretty rough indoctrination, as you can imagine. But there was so much for me to learn that I kept coming back. I actually find it laughable that I'm still here and have just been upgraded to my McMansion.

Me too.

The only reason I see the blog is because it pops up in my RSS reader every day. I usually just give it a quick scan. I appreciate IR's posts and the effort he puts into them, but it's basically the same post every day...the latest WTF homeowner. There were a lot of them and I get it. It would be great if there was a rotating group of bloggers, including IR, that touched on many of the subjects we have here in the forums. I nominate BK for one of the bloggers.

So I just found one of the notifications in my inbox. It was the links that you get in the notifications when you subscribe to a thread that would lead me back to the forums. From there I would click on the Real Estate link, which is how I missed all the other topics for so long. One day I must have clicked on Forum Home and discovered there was another whole world of stuff to chat about

One of the threads from my earliest days

I noticed a recurring theme over the last few days (from a couple threads but I'll quote them all right here)..

[quote author="irvine_home_owner" date=1242437396]That was a good article... other people should still write for the IHB... no offense to IR... but it's nice to see other perspectives.

What a great post! Would be great to have an update with pics. I miss the old IHB with multiple bloggers.

I'm always looking for more writers for the blog. I'm pretty sure IR would welcome taking some time off. We've had several authors in the past and we've always encouraged all authors to write blog posts. ISM, graph, and SCHB (I apologize if I missed anyone) had some fantastic posts with great insight into Irvine/OC Housing. I think we just got burned out and weren't able to make the time to continue to write blog posts. If I'm misspeaking for someone, please jump in and offer your thoughts. More recently (within the last year), we've also had some nice contributions from Cuatro and Cubic Zirconia.

If you are interested in writing about Irvine Housing, by all means send me a PM or an email and let me know what you are interested in writing about.
