I think things are back to normal already. Number wise, we should have another lock down compare to the last one, but for some reason, things seem pretty normal around here. If you don?t notice that, you probably live far from OC.

Mety, please check the data before you make statements like this:
https://occovid19.ochealthinfo.com/coronavirus-in-oc

That's OC specific and if you look at dashboard graphs now compared to winter you will see a big difference. While cases and hospitalizations may be similar to when this first started, the big difference is number of deaths.

So we are far from normal, but at least we know vaccinations and restrictions have been working in preventing the worst side effect of Covid... dying.

And while it may visually appear normal, there are still quite a few people masking, avoiding large crowds etc etc.

Ok. This is how we have conversation. Thank you!

So your point is even though there might be more cases, number of deaths is not as severe? That is a valid point and answers my question at the same time which was why we aren't having another lockdown.

I'm definitely noticing more people wearing masks again so maybe people are being more careful. I was going to go to Hawaii for our family vacation, but man! Too many people go there now so we gotta find somewhere else.

Pfizer is FDA approved today if that helps convince anyone to get vaxxed.

Thanks iho for letting is know. Try not to laugh. But people used the excuse that it is not approved by the fda to not get vaccinated.

I hear there is a shortage of staff @ hospitals because a lot of nurses are becoming traveling nurses due to the high pay.
It must be awesome to be a nurse right now as you are in high demand and can get a lot of money by going to TX or FL.

I read a nurse made 250,000 last year.  COVID sure is good for business.

Supply and demand. Demand for service.

CA covid cases are going up.
We are jeaopardizing our re-opening.
Do you think we can have normal school when AUG rolls around with conditions like this?
New York is not on this list.  Cuomo is killing it.

Newsom needs to make masks a law where police can give $25 tickets for being in public and not wearing one.

If you want life to go back to normal as much as possible, then masks are part of the solution.

Looks like Covid claimed another victim...At least he can rub his Emmy.

Independent News:Majority of Florida residents oppose DeSantis block on Covid protections

Florida?s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, is facing a backlash from his generally conservative constituents for his numerous acts to stifle coronavirus mitigation efforts.

A new poll from Quinnipac has revealed that residents in Florida are generally in favour of more coronavirus mitigation efforts, including mask mandates.

Mr DeSantis recently issued an executive order prohibiting school districts from enforcing mask mandates for students. He has also threatened to cut off funding to school districts and officials who defy his order.

According to the poll, 60 per cent of Florida voters support school mask mandates, with only 36 per cent opposed.

As I predicted before on TI. The people of Florida will stand up to this nonsense.

Sounds like boosters every 6 months?
https://endpts.com/covid-19-roundup-biden-now-plans-boosters-after-6-months-as-pfizer-submits-sbla-1-6m-moderna-doses-contaminated-in-japan-reports/  I read elsewhere that boosters should be every 3 months, but that surely seems excessive...I just hope they won't require too many boosters per year for the coming vaccine passport...hopefully only 2 - 3 per year..

And from Japan:  I just watched a news clip from Japan regarding antibody levels after Pfizer shots.  A medical college in Japan tested the levels of 209 staff members.  They checked the antibody levels 2 weeks after the second dose and then checked again 2.5 months after the second dose.  They found that antibody levels were reduced to 1/4 the levels found after the 2nd dose.  So I see why some are saying boosters every 3 months.?(Sorry, can't provide link to Japanese news clip.  The news clip just came out this week, but youtube already took it down.  I don't understand why though. I can vouch that it was a legit major news station news clip regarding a legit medical/research college findings publicly presented in Japan.)

The 4-year-old had no underlying health issues, officials said.

An unvaccinated, unmasked California elementary school teacher who came to school in May even while visibly sick infected a dozen students with the coronavirus, all too young to be immunized, according to a report published Friday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Had a run in this morning with a denialist moron.

Falling antibody levels after vaccination does not equal no protection.  There is another type of defense called cellular immunity. Vaccines induce different types of white blood cells (T-cells) that directly fight viruses and has shown effectiveness against variants.

We are in this for the next 10-15 years, because the human brain is shortsighted and egocentric. We could have beaten variants/mutations to a large extent if we had gotten around 80% vaccinated (70% herd immunity is bare minimum and not ideal), but of course this was never possible because of the false debate of individual freedom (merely 100% political ideology) in this country that cannot reach its potential and suffers a diminished IQ  from all the dummies who talk/play politics with science.

We'll need to wear masks for the next 10-15 years, regardless of if you've been vaccinated. We'll need to get boosters every 6-12 months, regardless of if you have had COVID and have acquired natural "immunity." The boosters will try to keep up with the variants, and there may end up being regional differences in the vaccine potpourri over the years. Eventually, COVID vaccine will meld into your run-of-the-mill annual flu vaccines. This process will take 10-15 years, because we will not be able to get ahead of the variants because of the all the dummies.

As I've said before, we can't even get a Harvard Law grad to understand the simplest concepts in science. But don't misinterpret this statement as a diss on humanities majors. We also can't even get a mechanical engineering or computer science PhD from Caltech to understand it, because they don't have the relevant science. I don't give advice on heart surgery because I know Jack about the heart. Yet virtually 100% of the world's population has a theory on 2 subjects: (1) on the nature of intelligence and (2) on how politics should be done. The latter allows every misguided, perverse knuckleheaded knucklehead to seek validation as something more than a waste of human resources.

Think about it. You can be a total dummy or a total failure in pretty much everything you've ever done from childhood to adulthood. But you can talk politics with great confidence.

But he stop bragging about Florida. Its not the people in Florida. According to the polls Floridians are not happy with Desan-toes. It is the governor of Florida that is the problem that does not understand and/or know how to deal with covid. Let the doctors and health experts handle heath crisis. I dont go to restaurants and tell them how to cook.

Covid 4 ever? (Due to the fake and weak freedom argument)

The really sad thing is when kids are sick with covid. (It breaks my heart) I was raised that kids are our future.

Californians (more importantly for us) are madder at the Boy King....He will be tossed out for the very reasons you think Desatis is in trouble (who, by the way, isn't about to be recalled).  Covid..like H1N1, will be with us forever.
