Capital Seafood (Irvine Spectrum)

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
So because of PS9, we finally ate at Capital... 12:30 on a Sunday, parking was crowded but I was still able to get a spot on the 2nd floor.

Wait for 4 was only 20 minutes... forgot about the OpenTable thing.

The dim sum here is good. But... I only eat the safe ones, baked bbq pork buns and the bbq pork croissants (which the kids loved). All the other food is pretty pricey even at lunch time... the bill was close to $85 and we  didn't order too much (in addition to the dim sum we also ordered a few plates of misc chinese food).

Does the place next to Capital in the District serve the same dim sum? Might be better if I get that to go.

Hey we were there too, around 12:15 today.  Gotta park on the roof, much safer.  It's pretty much empty on the roof around 12 and you can get a spot near the elevator.  I fear for my life if I park in the lower levels.  Too many lost pedestrians and blind spots.

The capital at DJ gets packed and there is a lack of waiting space when it is 90 degrees outside.  You can get to go at the counter next door.  Good luck with parking, to many 85 degree patrons.

We got stuck sitting outside... bright sun, hot patio... bleh.

Looking back at this thread... the DJ one isn't the same as the Spectrum one right?

So is it the 99 Ranch one that is different from DJ and Spectrum?

I think it's funny they have older Chinese women pushing around the steam carts and they can't understand non-Chinese or non-Chinese can't understand them, but then they have non-Chinese carrying around the non-steamed dim sum trays and I'm sure the Chinese can't understand them and vice versa.

Which 99 Ranch one?

Just point, don't have time to talk with my mouth full of food :)

99 Ranch on Culver is Sam Woo and 99 Ranch on Walnut is SW.  Both are not related to each other nor Capital Seafood I believe.

Are they still serving cold dim sum?  Been to both the Spectrum and DJ locations multiple times.  Each time... cold dim sum.  No bueno.  Rather just go get piping hot daikon cake at the breakfast place on Jeffrey & Irvine Center.

Send the food back.  Flag one of the guys in suits and they'll take it off the bill.  Or call Homer and have him talk to the owner for you :)

These dim sum joints are the only place safe to send back food without risking getting "altered" food back.

Yeah... but I'm a dim sum newb so I need to ask what is inside some of them (plus my kid has a shellfish allergy).

Oh yeah... that's right, I am mixing them both up.

I think the SW on Walnut serves dim sum at night... does Sam Woo even serve dim sum?

Homer - tell your staff to stop serving cold dim sum!!

Why is the Spectrum Capital "nicer" than the District one?

And the Spectrum one seems to have better service (aka more polite waiters).

Went for dinner the other day and was pleasantly surprised by the dessert soup... it's warm sweet tapioca with red bean and corn... sounds weird but very good.

Capital is a bit on the high side but we like the dim sum.
