Man was I disappointed with this place.. the 4 star average yelp reviews were way off..

Seafood tofu soup, bland, and lack of seafood.  Nuff said

Fried tempura tofu sticks, nothing special

Fried almond shrimp balls, this was when I realized whoever is in the kitchen is either lazy or unskilled (they burned the almonds!)... any decent restaurant would not serve it like this

Peking duck $24, absolutely the worst Peking duck I have ever had, no flavor in the duck, and worst of all it was cut up into chunks, yes chunks of meat instead of thinner smaller pieces.. like they hacked away at it and thought we would like to use two pieces of bread to wrap it up

Stopped with the photos after that, not worth taking anymore.. Worst dish of the night was I ordered some Honey Glazed BBQ pork from the menu.  $8 for stringy, fatty bbq pork.  I understand if this was takeout 3 item combo quality, but I ordered off the dinner menu.  $8 should give me the top cuts of pork, with no fat and should crumble in my mouth texture.  yuck.. Next was House special scallops.. i thought the scallops were undercooked and it was slimy, but can't tell with all the batter and heavy flavor to mask it.  Cantonese style crispy noodles with beef was also pretty bad, again, the lack of flavor and the cuts of meat was not very good.  Salt and pepper pork chops, didn't get to taste it, lost my appetite.

They just made my list of worst Chinese restaurant in Irvine, but the nicest looking...

Good for birthdays (there were 4 birthday tables around us last night) and to impress your non-Chinese friends.

Apple generation yelpers are young and haven't develop the sophisticated taste for good Chinese foods. Go to places where you can find older patrons.

But older restaurant patrons don't post reviews online.

It is simple. Go inside to use the restroom and if it is filthy then the restaurant is likely to be good. Then observe the people eating. If they are mostly UCI students then forget it. If the majority are caucasians then get the hell out. If you see IHO then it is probably a chain.

I'll make a mental note.  ;)

I do plan on writing a scathing review on yelp (bringing my profile out of retirement), it just upsets me that a restaurant that has alot of potential and good location can fail so bad.  Even the service was mediocre, only thing that impressed me was the manager who took my order didn't have to write it down,  he memorized it, and got the entire order correct.  I don't know if it was an off night for them, but at the prices they are charging, it is inexcusable.  I didn't voice my concerns to the manager, had family present and didn't want to make a scene, and what's the point, lack of competition in the area means they will survive even with horrible food.  Anyone know if this is the same owner as the one in Rowland Heights next to Ranch 99?

Different owner.

This is the same owner as the one in Monterey Park and the one at DJ.

Next to RH 99 Ranch is Happy Harbor Restaurant and not Capital Seafood in Diamond Plaza of RH. Diamond RH is the same owner as Diamond Jamboree and not the same owner as the restaurant chain. The same owner owns Capital Seafood at Spectrum, Diamond RH, Diamond Jamboree, Westminster and Del Mar Plaza SGV and Irvine slum houses. The restaurant owner is Vietnamese Chinese.

Who is right here?

IHS says the same person owns Spectrum, DJ, RH, WM and SGV.

Homer says the person who owns Spectrum only owns DJ and MP.

ALETHEA HSU is the owner of Diamond Plaza in Rowland Heights and Diamond Jamboree. She invited all her existing tenants to open additional chains in Irvine. Capital is not the only restaurants in both centers and there are many others.

Alethea is a doctor/developer living in Shady Canyon part time with her fulltime practice at the Garfield Hospital in Monterey Park

Question is, does she have any unwed daughters?  :D

If you are into an older single sugar mama then she is a jackpot. Google for her picture if you are dying to know about your conquest.

Haha, not into older sugar mamas.  That's why I was asking if she had any single daughters.

IHS's post is confusing.

So Homer says the owner of the restaurant Capital Seafood in Spectrum, MP and DJ is the same person... but not the same as the one who owns the Capital Seafood in RH.

But IHS says:

So by the bolded part, does IHS mean the owner of the shopping center... not the restaurant?

I knew I should have taken those IHS language immersion classes in elementary school.

I don't the problem is not taking my IHS immersion class but you need to drive outside of your comfort zone to understand other cultures, geography and attributes that exist outside of Irvine.

One owner that own Capital Seafood in Rowland Heights also own the one at Diamond Jamboree. The restaurant owner pay rent to one landlady who owns both plazas.

Homer is correct that the restaurant owner does not own the restaurant next to 99 Ranch in Rowland Heights because it is called Happy Harbor located at the opposite end of the Class 302 at the same 99 Ranch strip mall.

The 99 Ranch stripmall is NOT Diamond Plaza of Rowland Heights.

I assumed Capital was still next to Class 302 in the Ranch 99 plaza in Rowland Heights.  When did they move? Use to go there all the time.  Or was I confusing another restaurant..  Memory goes with age..

No need to drive anywhere... I lived outside of Irvine for quite a few years... once you find paradise... why leave?

Plus I can alway go to Santa Ana for "culture".

Still there, they've expanded to multiple locations now.
