when purchasing a used bmw, keep in mind that bmw owners tend to drive their cars harder than other drivers, <em>especially if you're talking about a used m3!</em> either buy certified pre-owned or make sure you have a good mechanic before you even consider purchasing from a private party.

We used to own a 2000 328CI and there were all sorts of problems with it:



The interior side moldings fells off

Moonroof fell off its rails

Leather cracked

Gears wouldn't shift correctly



and the kicker? It would stall in middle of the freeway - It was an AUTO.



I'm not complaining though. It was a great car to drive and I would snap up another one on a heartbeat (if I had extra money).



Since I am still young (mid-20s) and saving up to buy a house, I purchased a Scion tC (Camry in disguise) and hopefully it will last 10 years. One day I will get my 911 Turbo but until then I will freeload off whatever bimmer my brother purchases. :)

The Scion isn't really a Camry in disguise, except in that they share an I4 engine. The tC is based on an English-built Toyota built for the European market.
 
I don't know if I would compare it to the Celica. I've driven both and the stock tC feels more like a Camry. It may look sporty but I swear it was going to flip while taking on a couple of freeway loop-ramps.



...that is until I dropped the sucker and had sways installed. Now it's more like a Celica. :)



Allergy, I was referring to the I4 engine because I wanted the reliability but not look of another boring sedan. It might share the same chassis as the Avensis but I'm glad it doesn't look anything like it.
 
tC does have the floaty issue of the Camry. I had one for a couple of months, then moved into a Camry Hybrid. Now I feel like I'm sailing a ship everytime I'm on the road.

<p>Here is my M3 Eater. SL55. BMW M class and Mercedes AMG class. We do tend to drive the cars harder. Not sure on the BMW but on a Benz you can get the entire service history on a used car before you puchase. These cars are either rock solid or cursed. So do your homework and especially if private party. Get it inspected and check on extended warranty availability.</p>

<p>The only thing depreciating faster than my car is a home in Quail Hill or Woodbury.</p>

Those AMG V12`s are insane on Torque and HP. Drove a SL65 once. Just flies once it got hooked up to the pavement.
 
I can not understand why Jaguar put that ugly antennae on their new jag coupe? WTH were they thinking.



Nice SL55, did you lease or purchase? I heard that most people lease the AMG due to their rate of depriciation.



I've seen a few nice M3's driving around Irvine. There is a nice one in Woodbury that I see sometimes.
 
Aside from being a requirement to live in OC, what does BMW have to do with Irvine Real Estate? Maybe we need a lifestyle, but real estate?

Purchased a couple years ago. Yes it depreciates about a grand a month. Almost as fast as a home in Woodbury.
 
nice car blt. My boss has the S65 and that thing does pull like a beast. Can't imagine what it'd feel like in a lighter 2 seater.



1 more month until my 328 coupe arrives! I gotta buy a house before I really start getting the big boy cars though. :-)
 
Hey guys, I need some advice, a while ago we were thinking of a Z4 for my Wife, untill I saw the price...

Then, the other night we were looking at the 1 series Convertible, they start at $31K, I haven't had time to go to a Dealership and I've never seen one in real life, I'm really out of the loop these Days as far as BMW's go, what do you think of them?



She likes small Cars, She is driving an 06 Beetle Convertible right now and loves it, it's like new but of course I'd have to go through the hassle of selling it or trading it in for way less than it's probably worth.



Any thoughts?
 
A 3.0 liter 6 cylinder twin turbo with many plug and play turbo boosting options coming, and the overall size is slightly smaller than the E36, but with more interior room. Is it really any wonder why they want to ditch the Beetle?



It is kind of a fatty though, and could lose some weight. Mmmm... I wonder how difficult it is to pop that motor into an E36? Better go check bimmerforums, some nutter prolly already has done it. If that motor doesn't add that much weight, then that would make for one kick ass E36. Meh... I stay away from that site because it gives me ideas that cost money, I am not supposed to get bimmer spending ideas on IHB. Damn you Petah and Eff!
