I am going to profile that one this week, assuming it isn't bought in two days and pulled from the market before my profile comes out.

Ok, so far this is a typical World War II-era starter home. Tiny, old house on a tiny lot. Judging from the pictures, it's in fair shape at best, although it's priced pretty damned cheap-now. But be prepared for a healthy dose of WTF...

What. The. Fark.

Somebody paid $645 a square foot for this thing. The bubble was never that ridiculous-this has to either be an error or fraud. Even at the peak of the bubble this was maybe worth half that, maybe a little more. I also like the extremely silly price the bank recorded when they took it back-maybe it wasn't the main loan? In any case, the current list price is 86.1% off the previous sale.

I say fraud. $670K for 1000 sq ft was happening around here, but Riverside...no way that was real. Hell, it was fraud even in OC.

It's a beautiful home and there doesn't appear to be any orbs in the pictures so maybe it's safe.

<blockquote>A Santa Paula ranch once owned by actor Steve McQueen ("The Great Escape," "Papillon") and his third wife, Barbara Minty, has come on the market for $1.95 million.

The pair moved to the 15.5-acre ranch in 1979 and were married in the living room of its 1892 Victorian house, which has antique stained-glass windows.

The ranch includes 3 acres of Syrah vineyards, fruit trees, a 3-acre equestrian facility and a 4,500-square-foot airplane hangar where McQueen kept his car and motorcycle collection.

I would be curious where in Santa Paula that is. Santa Paula is kind of like Orange: some barrio, some nice, and sometimes both are right near each other. Given the lot size, I don't think it is barrio, but I wonder if it might be adjacent.

This house isn't for sale, but I thought it was worth taking the picture for a "what if" scenario.

What if it WAS for sale and you were the sales agent. How would you write the property description? Although this appears to be the back of the house, the photo was taken from a main highway and there is no street on the other side of the house.

Correction: I checked the aerial view, and the "front" of the house (or, at least the street with the house address) is on the left "peaked" side. So this is actually a view of the side yard.

What?s that next to the chimney? Is it a BBQ or the chimney for the basement?

It's most likely the top of the cistern that stores rain water, or possibly a well. This is in a small village with a total population of 58. It probably does not have a community water supply.

Two words: $11,000,000 and Corona...

I saw that on Housing Kaboom as well. Nobody is going to pay $739 a sq ft in Corona.

I like the robo-estimates:

Low Estimate High

Zillow $551,500 $1,103,000 $1,191,240

Eppraisal $626,473 $737,028 $847,582

Cyberhomes No data is available for this property.

Those sound about right. :-P

It really is a palace (from the pics), and the materials/workmanship likely cost >$1MM.

I question would anyone capable of paying $11MM for a residence choose to live in Corona.

I'm sure it cost five or eight million to build. Doesn't mean it's worth much more than two or three million on the open market.
