It's more like qwerty walks everyday to prevent putting on more weight.

It does work. I try to walk whenever I can. It's really hard for me to find enough time to go to the gym most weekdays. The winter weight gain only happened after I stopped walking in the evenings, but didn't stop eating winter food :-)

Bob's red mill Muesli now available at Costco..
Also Silk Almond Milk..

Went for a walk in my local park during the morning. Saw a muscular black guy dressed in fatigues like a drill sergeant ordering some adults to drop and give him 20. Followed by sit-ups. It must be some kind of a fitness boot camp. I give credit to those people for paying someone to kick their butts. I'm thinking of looking into it...

Tic-Tacs say they contain 0 carbs. It must be a legal loophole on negligible carbs since the main ingredient is sugar, after all. Never mind the fact that it's 120 calories for the package.

Regardless, I tested it by eating the entire box all at once. Orange Tic-Tacs were always my favorite since I was a small child. Mmmmm. I used to pretend they were my "pills" / "meds". (No, I never saw an adult overdose on pills.) I don't think of them as pills any longer. They are just good.

Let me give you my number!  ;)

I'm only sold if you agree to dress in the army fatigues as well. I lurve a man in uniform.  :-*

Yes, Mrs NSR is joining me.  We've both been more focused on being healthier, but we're not making a big consolidated effort.  Just trying to stay focused and keep on track.  Our main challenge is our little NSR who's in the middle of his terrible twos...

Okay, and maybe my frozen yogurt habit...

It's hard with kids + work.. we try to eat healthy, but then there is always that element of surprise. Just make better choices and move on. Every little change counts.

We finish a week tomorrow. I have managed to stay active mostly, haven't lost any weight, gained some, eaten healthy almost, binged once..
How about you guys?

IHO- small changes?
NSR- hope you cut the size of that frozen yogurt?
Homer- ran to the White House this morning and returned home for dinner?
SoCal- the chef is sleeping?
Kulbert - Any new class?
Qwerty- 7X3 = 21 miles this week?

i did 14 miles in the last week. just wrapped a busy part of the year at work the other day so will resume to the 3 mile days tomorrow.  when i walk the pups 3 miles, that is their target to get extra portions at dinner time. so i try to do 3 whenever possible

Dogs are a good way to get exercise even on busy days. I don't think I would be motivated to go to the gym/walk after a long day at work.

Including Chia seeds in my protein shake. The scale and I have filed for separation. I think I will just stick to caliper pinching my skin once a month. Oh, small victory : jogged two rounds to the high school track before switching to walk. I was breathless in the first quarter of the track, but jogged in place and continued without stopping altogether. That tip helped a lot, thanks guys!

How much does a trainer cost?

I remember that at places like LA Fitness and 24 hour, it was extra.

I need someone to tell me what to do or I won't do it.

My night walks are usually time-based, about 40 minutes... so I don't know how long in miles they are... I think I counted steps once and it was something like 4000+ steps which is approximately 2 miles. Only problem is I haven't been doing them every night... so lazy watching American Idol.

Good job, CZ.

The chef never sleeps because for some odd reason, the people in my house want to eat every single day. The audacity!

I'm a lot happier being back to keeping track of calories. I have been running good 700 calorie daily deficits on average while still eating the things I like. The scale has not budged for me since last Friday when I weighed in. If anything, it is up. But this is where my love for calorie counting kicks in! If I was not keeping track, I would say to myself, "Ugh. What I'm doing isn't working! Might as well not try." However, since I keep track and have experience doing this before, my brain knows that not only is it scientifically impossible to have gained any fat but I am indeed losing and it will eventually show up on the scale. So, I pay more attention to my journal numbers than the scale's numbers. Keep going!

My personal experience: Health magazines and real like support from friends/ family works better than a trainer unless you are a hot home maker who the trainer can flirt with ;-) Most of the trainers end up making you do the same exercises that you can plan for yourself. Diet control is also important, and as SoCal says, that happens only when the boss at home approves. Get involved in IR landmarks programs? Train with Homer? Get gym membership and join classes?

In the end, the results HAVE to show, right? ;-)

Well, a broken up week.  Work hit stressville.  Missed my workout yesterday because of it, but did manage to get three in from last Friday to yesterday.  Scale still says the same number.

Poor Mr. SoCal is no so happy. His calorie counting methodology is a bit different than mine. His is an "Eat first. Add later." approach. He is fudging the numbers afterwards to make it all fit into his daily range.  :o Naughty! He says he's hungry. He misses beer. He won't eat most of what I suggest to keep him feeling full longer (fiber, flax seed, etc). At least he's doing well at lunch time. He takes his little lunch Crockpot I got him and eats dinner leftovers (which he loves - he had "surf and turf" from last night's grilled sirloin and lemon shrimp I made and calculated up for him). He's skipping his daily Dr. Pepper so that's better. I am trying to make dinners easy for him. What else can I do, really.

Tonight I am making Chicken Rice Soup. It's healthy but still good. It has a tomato base of V8 juice and salsa. It has diced green chilies, corn, cilantro, green onions, etc. I'm putting in rotisserie chicken and wild rice. Shredded Mexican cheese added for those with enough calories to make it work. Honey butter biscuits for the brave.

Half a day to go and I have blwn my 1650 :) I think I will just stop adding for the rest of day ;)
SoCal, your chicken rice soup sounds delish. I will try it, with fake chicken, brown rice and mozzerella cheese.  Haven't eaten wild rice in a while. Do you cook in broth?
