A partisan never sees the evil in their candidate nor do the see the good in their opponent. They are blind to Truth due to their preconceptions. This is true of either party.</blockquote>

Unfortunately why our government as it stands is arguably broken from this perspective. Freedom of choice as long as it's red or blue.

I don't care if Obama stood up there and said he was George Bush, yelling "YOU LIE" during the President's speech is extraordinarily disrespectful. He is the duly elected President of the United States. Regardless of how any one person feels about him, he WAS elected and the office deserves respect and OUR representatives should adhere to the traditions of decorum.

Rob Miller. Joe Wilson`s upcoming Democratic rival in the next election has received over $ 700,000 in donations in the last 2 days thanks to just a couple of words. Paybacks are a bitch.

I don't understand why liberals think this is going to doom Wilson. He's a rep from South Carolina. The majority of his district probably opposes health care reform anyway. They'll react the same way a lot of heath care reform opponents reacted on this thread. "Well, it was pretty rude to heckle, but he got the point across!"

[quote author="IrvineRenter" date=1252667741]Have you ever watched the British Parliament on C-SPAN? The stuff they say to each other in the House of Commons is amazing.

In this circumstance is was bad decorum. You just don't do that. An address from the President is not the House of Commons in Great Britain, and unless they want it to become that, this Representative was out-of-order.

It underscores the partisan bickering the Republicans are relying on. They are in full obstructionist mode. The strategy worked well for them in Clinton's first term in 93-94.</blockquote>

I love watching the House of Commons!

[quote author="diulei" date=1252709498]It was rude - but I am almost certain had someone done this to Bush people would be cheering.

Disclaimer: I voted for Obama. I just think people have double standards far too often.</blockquote>

[quote author="bltserv" date=1252704950]Here is Joe Wilson asking for Money.

I keep looking for the gunman in the room. Like he is a hostage victim.

This guy has ZERO chance at election time.

</blockquote>

I don't know HOW you can be 100% sure he has no chance during the next election? He won by a little over 10% last time, and he is from SC. When this is all said and done, he MIGHT be a HERO in SC.

Regardless how he did it, it worked. this is from MSNBC (not foxnews):

"Members of the group said they thought they'd settled the question of illegal immigration, but it came to the fore this week when Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted "You lie" at Obama during his speech Wednesday. Obama had said illegal immigrants wouldn't be covered under his health plan. Senators said that's forced the committee to work on provisions verifying legal status before an individual can get coverage. "

I think it is a clear cut example of dumbassery coming out of the Republic party. And I think the guy that walked out should just keep walking and not stop till he hits water.

Those guys are there to respresent the people who elected them, so they should take their dunce caps off and act like it.

You know what amazes me? No one is commenting on the remarkable luck of the photographer who snapped this shot. I mean, most of the cameras are pointed at Obama, with a few pointed back at the gallery for face shot of guests that were there for support. Not only did the photographer catch Rep. Wilson in mid point, but in mid-sentence... a sentence that was two words long... in a room filled with 530+ Representatives and Senators, who were seated in an arc spanning nearly 180 degrees.

And in perfect focus. That's some kind of luck.

I still think this guy is pretty cool.

Its cost him BIG TIME.

Almost a million to the Dem he has to run against now.

And he has issues with facts being mentioned about inter-racial out of wedlock reality.

"In 2003, Essie Mae Washington-Williams' revealed that she was the daughter of Wilson's former employer, the late Senator Strom Thurmond, and Thurmond's black maid. Wilson was among those who publicly doubted her claim that Thurmond had a child out of wedlock. Wilson said even if her story was true, she should not have revealed it because "it's a smear" on Thurmond's image and was a way to "diminish" Thurmond's legacy. After Thurmond's family acknowledged the truth of Washington-Williams' revelation, Wilson apologized but said that he still thought that she should not have revealed that Thurmond was her father.

This guy is a real class act. Then again it is South Carolina.

Democrats doing a good job turning this guy into a martyr.

The sad part is so many Democrats knew this is what would happen if they put this vote on the floor and they did it anyway. Even Nancy freaking Pelosi realized what a mistake this was, but she gave in.
