Tesla Cybertruck

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Because.... Texas.

I'm loyal to Tesla. I've owned a Model 3, Model Y, and now Model X. I'm passing on the Cybertruck, though. The only reason I'd buy it is if I owned my own business and could leverage the attention the cars get with a custom advertisement wrap.

Because.... Texas.

Funny how Tesla and Texas are supposed to be opposing paradigms.

I believe the CT is produced exclusively in Tesla's Texas Gigafactory so it makes sense to have a rodeo there.

Oddly enough I saw two CT's with 5 minutes of each other driving out Ortega Hwy this weekend.

Sales must not be so great. I pre-ordered the single motor Cybertruck in June 2021 and received a mail a couple days ago that I could order my Cybertruck now, but it has to be a dual motor Foundation Series. It would be ready in about a month.

Not sure I want to spend $100k on it though, probably will pass.

To you, which EV is uglier, the Silver Door Stop or the Black Mass? Gotta pick one

Rare seeing these two EVs driving side by side. The CT is pretty big, but that EV Hummer is redonkulusly thiqq.

The headline is BS as it's not the "Russians" who have these, but a "Russia adjacent pawn". I read somewhere that the first CT this warlord had was remotely bricked by Tesla. Not so with these two....yet.

Nice new paint job IMHO. Really makes the CT look fierce. :D

I don't feel strongly about the CT either way, but lately I'm actually finding amusement whenever I see an Elon related hit piece. They're everywhere, so it's typically a daily or multiple time per week occurrence.

Yes Elon is an extremely unique character. 1 in 100M? 1 in 1B? Maybe. Yes, his dad was extremely physically and emotionally abusive during Elon's childhood. Yes, Elon has Asperger's. Yes, he and his siblings immigrated to the US shortly after Elon turned 18. With nothing. And he proceeded to try to upend the electronic payment industry (perhaps not successfully but did walk away with piles of money), revolutionized space travel, disrupted the US auto industry, is a player in the solar industry, the home + commercial + utility battery industry, the boring company, AI, X/Twitter, and so on. Yes, he struggles with relationships. No, I would never personally want to work with him. Yes, I directly and indirectly benefit from his and his team's monumental accomplishments. Why not just let it end there, you know?

He has a stance of X on some issue? He created a unique looking and opinion polarizing car? He thinks there should be minimal guard rails on free speech and media companies should not put weights on the scales of political discourse? He thinks the tang menace (TM) is a better fit than cackala? Okay, cool, gotta go work to put food on the table, see ya.

People seem to be very agitated by him, the things he's accomplished, and the things he says. Certain publications seem happy to give a platform to any triggered activist "journalist" who is willing to take time away from their very busy productive lives to write a childish opinion piece about how terrible Elon and the things he's involved in are.

It reminds me of times in high school when person A would get extremely upset with (i.e. emotionally hurt by) person B. Person A would proceed to make it their sole objective to spread negative thoughts about person B. Day after day... sometimes for weeks. Person A would even get upset with classmates when despite all the negative things they've said about person B, classmates maintain positive or neutral viewpoint about person B. The whole thing was a giant waste of time. Kind of like this comment :)

Looks like Cybertruck sales are slowing down, US backlog has been cleared (but I doubt it was over 2m buyers) and Canada sales are starting.

In the US you can get a CT within a week of ordering but it starts at $80k and not the promised $40k a few years ago. Blame inflation? Tariffs?
