Don't forget Greenwood has double MR with compounding 2% YOY increases.

Difference is, by the time TUSD gets around to building a high school, Greenwood kids will already be attending IVC or Saddleback. (ouch)

Good point Gas!

If MR is the same at Greenwood and BP, then I would say advantage BP. Because I see the elementary school is under construction and it will most likely open.

For Greenwood, the elementary school that Will be open is built but who knows when kids can go.

I personally believe if you live in a TUSD area served by a Beckman caliber school, and there is every indication that the new TL high school will be of this caliber, you're kids are better off in TUSD than IUSD.  If you want your kids to spend all their time at Kumon or Barun with the spawn of delusional Asian parents, then IUSD is for you.

How many times have the TL residents been let down?

It all depends on the needs of each family.  For us, we won't need an elementary school for another 4 years, and a high school for 15 years.  We are confident that by the time we need to use the schools, they will be already built and ready to go.

As for other families who already have kids old enough for school, I can understand their concerns.

I tend to agree with this. That or you at least go to older Irvine schools vs. the brand new ones with their shiny test scores.  Old addage of letting a kid be a kid (while still having strong schools and good parental environment...just maybe a little more relaxed).

Please.  Do you guys really think the *new and shiny* TUSD schools with their STEAM bs isn't gonna be the same as IUSD in terms of competitiveness?  Beckman is just as competitive as the IUSD schools - it just gets a bad rap b/c it's in TUSD.  And the whole magnet aspect of these new Tustin Legacy schools just screams competitive, "my kid got into STEAM, did yours?".  And if there is a test to get into this STEAM thing, then rest assured, parents will be KUMON-ing away...

Remember that Portola Springs Elementary was supposed to open in 2010 and was delayed for 5 years.  During that time, PS kids were first sent to, then kicked out of, Stonegate Elementary.

Portola Springs is like the Rodney Dangerfield of neighborhoods, it just gets no respect.  TIC screwed them on the retail center and regional park and IUSD screwed them on the school.  Poor Portola Springs residents just can't catch a break.

Greenwood and BP MR are not the same. Bps are higher.  But both do increase 2%. The school is built. They already said the elementary school will open in 2016 (enrollment starts in March). You posted a link saying this was a game changer. Although I guess until the kids attend the school people will still not believe it.

Agree with this. Columbus square has a lot of Asians and I'm guessing greenwood will too.

Asians are everywhere in Orange County.  Why do you think China has changed its one-child policy to a two-child policy?

I think the percentage of hard ass parents is greater at the brand new schools in Irvine vs. the good schools in Tustin and the schools in the older Irvine neighborhoods.  Not saying they are not competitive, just a little less in general and probably a bit more diverse.

You obviously haven't met any parents from Turtle Rock, Turtle Ridge, or Quail Hill.

How did it go from stale IP designs to schools? Is Irvine Pacific that good changing discussion topic  >:D

Keep on keeping on IP...Kool Aid is delicious.

It changed because all floorplans in new developments of similarly sized homes are 95% similar. It's odd to complain about IP's boring plans when they're just like everyone else' floorplans.

Ha ha, it only took one comment about high MR at BP at the 4th post then rest of the tread went to different direction.

If iacrenter is TIC shell, he'll be promoted and change his handle to IPhomeowner soon. :)

Irvine Pacific's stale floorplans were one major reason I avoided buying at Laguna Altura. Sure, those homes appreciated nicely, but I really disliked the floorplans. I disliked them when they were used in Woodbury, and disliked them even more in exclusive Laguna Altura. They create a basic floorplan, make a small, medium and large of the same floorplan, then crank them out across multiple communities. Ugh.

You'd think IP was being run by a Chinese manufacturing conglomerate...

*oops*
