Professional burglers spend quite a bit of effort casing your place.  The pro's work with house cleaners, gardners, delivery service, door to door "salesman", and even outcall escorts to gain information on your home.  If you have an alarm system that they're unable to bypass, it would at least deter or limit their time inside your home.  If not, then they might arrive in a moving truck with everyone dressed as movers to clean out your entire home.

Nah ... they'll just fly a drone by your house.

If you are on a budget, take a look at the foscam c1. (720 HD quality, cloud capable, can store on sd card, compact camera, motion detector, night vision)

You can get 2-4 of these for the price of 1 dropcam. (Depending on the deal)

Anyone ever use the cameras hooked up to a Synology NAS? I assume you could then upload to the cloud for cheap since Synology supports all the cloud players like Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.
