Routers

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
The undiscounted price for Cox Premiere is $68/mo which is 50mb, sometimes I get more, sometimes less.

My entire bundle, TV w/HBO, phone and internet is $215 and then I have a $58 discount so I pay about $157 a month for all 3.

Download 3x lower, upload 6x lower.  Anyone else wish to contribute?  Who's got dial up or DSL?

You guys went thru all this testing after I recommended Cox internet months ago?

Cox super rules ...150 mbps on Ultimate.  With a Nighthawk ... Imagine the possibilities.

BTW - cox is doing a a special discount for 12 months contract on their internet services right now

$79.99 for Ultimate

$59.99 for Premiere

Umm guys that was meant with /sarcasm

Didn't mean to stop all the great router posts in this thread.

Maybe that's why your elec bill is so high... your bandwidth slaps ps9's Uverse into the ground.

I don't expect FIOS to be much faster than Cox.

Do you really need such speeds?  I'm pretty content with my current setup.  Streams the occasional movie with no issues.  I don't play that much Xbox Live or PS4 multiplayer.  Maybe for downloading illegal stuff?  Like Pirate's bay (if that's still around).

But paying $40 for 20mbs versus $70-80 for 150mbs seems like a no brainer

The more people in the house using Internet... the more bandwidth you'll need.

YouTube, Netflix... game stuff... all bandwidth hogs.

Oh yes we do.  We have multiple devices using the internet.

- lift master online
- 2 cell phones
- iPad
- 3 laptops
- 1 PC
- play station
- 2 tv
- roku

And that's with the oldest kid only in kindergarten.

Haha my electric bill was high before I moved into the house.  I will be contacting IP to ask them what's going on with that.

This is like asking if i really need the bat. Of course not, but it's nice to have. If your going to a knife fight wouldn't you rather show up with a gun?

Hehe.

So your garage is the reason why you need so much bandwidth and electricity.

Someone has hacked you and is opening and closing your garage door every 5 minutes.

Was that a builder option?

This is the other thing, I find Cox customer service better than AT&T. It's actually the reason I switched to Cox for Internet.

When I moved a few years ago, I had been an AT&T DSL customer for years... but they needed a 3-4 week window to switch my service to a new address. I called Cox and they came out the next day. Don't know if AT&T is better nowadays, but having to deal with both companies multiple times, I still think they have better service than AT&T.

Setup is probably easier than Uverse since Cox's default modem/router is not wireless. Just plug the Nighthawk into the cable modem and you're done.
